"Alex!" Dads voice rang up the stairs.
"Coming!" I shouted back. After the accident i refused to touch the stairs even though we had fixed them. I slid down the fire poll Dad had installed after the accident. I ran into the kitchen, sliding on my socks.
"Yessss Dad?" i asked smiling.
"Well... i know your turning Fourteen in three days, and i just thought i would give you one of your gifts in advance." he pulled out a dress. I was never a dress wearing girl but Dad always knew just the right thing to get me, i smiled widely.
" I'm going to go put it on now!" i smiled taking the dress.
"Well that's what you do with a dress right? You were it." he winked at me, i smiled and ran into the bathroom. i slipped off the cloths i had on before and pulled the dress over my head, the black lase tickled my nose. I looked in the huge mirror Dad had put in there for me.
The dress came up to about my knees, it was black and red and little bows held it onto my shoulders my brown hair cascaded over my shoulders in a mess of curls, my side bangs fell into my right eye. My cheek's had a little pink to them, showing my joy, my liquid blue eyes sparkled. i smiled my teeth strait from years of braces. I then ran out of the bathroom, to my Dad.
"Dad! look!" i smiled running up to him. he looked at me and his eyes grew wide,
"Look at you! your beautiful! You Mom would be proud..." there were tears in the side of his eyes.
Three years ago Mom got in an accident. She was driving home from work one day when a drunk driver sped out of their lane, mom was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the car slammed into her, they told us that the impact was so great it knocked her off the ledge of the canyon, when the car hit the bottom it blew into a rain of flames, killing Mom. Dad was all i had left, and i will admit it, sometimes I'm the over protective one.
I pulled away from the hug.
"Come on Daddy. lets not be sad... moms in a better place." i reassured him kissing his cheek.
"Your right Alex. Come on Hun I'm gonna take you out to dinner. " he lead me outside and we drove off. little did i know, this was going to be my last night of fun. soon everything would turn into a living nightmare.
