Louis' POV
Except for a few maids the mansion was pretty much deserted when I got back home from school. I had no idea where Anne had ran off to, but I was certain my dad was dealing with business out of the city as he wasn't to be found in his office. I assumed Harry was still in school because he hadn't ridden home with me in the limo earlier. Maybe Niall would give him a ride since he was constatly attached to him and I had last seen Harry with him and only him. Now that I thought about it, I realized that Liam wasn't spending as much time with them as he used to lately. It's been awhile since I had seen him around, contaminating my mansion with his mere presence. Well, it was none of my matter but he may have gotten a girlfriend or something. I've grown accustomed to Harry by now but I couldn't bear his friends for shit. Like, I actually had some kind of history with Harry but not with any of them.
Thinking of Harry, I remembered his behaviour at our last encounter in the crowded hallways of school. I shouldn't expect him to behave any different towards me but somehow I guess I did. The fact that he had treated me like he had, bugged me to no end and if he were here I probably couldn't stop myself and comfront him. Which was crazy because I knew that Harry and I weren't even friends by no means, yet I still wanted him to treat me like one. At the same time that would've been completely impossible because there were too many friends of his by his side and all they knew was that we allegedly despised each other. As well, they hated me just as much, especially a guy called Ed. He sure wasn't a bad person, but I guess he felt the way Zayn felt towards Niall. If that made sense.
Ugh, this was frustrating me, I didn't want to feel this way.
Strolling around the mansion in boredom, I soon noticed that without the company of certain people I was losing my mind at the lack of action. I needed some sort of activity to occupy myself. In a parallel universe I might decide to study for once and improve my grades but this was the real world and I'd rather stare at a blank wall for hours than even touch my school bag. It is what it is.
After a couple of minutes that consisted of me wandering aimlessly around the house, I made up my mind to pick a little fight with a maid. There was no explanation behind it, I simply needed an occupation, anything. Passing the kitchen, I found the perfect victim. Betty. She was currently mopping the floor. Absorbed in her own world she didn't acknowledge my entrance. So let's start the fun, should we?
I spotted a lonely, with water filled bucket right next to her in the corner of the room and sneakily grabbed it, pouring the contents on the floor beside her. She rose her head and glance at me warily.
"Oops," I shrugged apologetically, "I think you missed a spot."
"I apologize, Master Tomlinson. I'll be right at it," she hastily replied, clearly annoyed and a voice drenched with sarcasm. She wasn't at all scandalised since she was already used to my little pranks. She simply dragged the mop across the floor to the spot I had wetted. Her eyes didn't meet mine as she cleaned up my mess in silence.
That wasn't the reaction I had hoped for unfortunately, although I wasn't even sure myself which reaction I wanted to get out of her.
The bucket was securely in my hold and I slowly went to the sink to fill it up again. Silently, I waited for her to be done and then stood broadly in front of her, smirking.
"I'm afraid you missed another spot," I pointed out easily and she blinked in confusion before I swear she rolled her eyes a little.
"I'm sorry, Master Tomlinson. I can't seem to find it," she smiled, searching for the spot with scurried eyes, "Where?" She recquired.
"Right there," I announced and slowly tipped the bucket over until the water poured on the floor, leaving a huge unnecessary puddle in the middle of the kitchen. Maybe she wasn't expecting me to go that far, but well. She gazed at me with wide eyes as she couldn't believe what I had just done and I had to honestly admit that my actions were totally uncalled for and mean. But I wanted to have someone to argue with and stop this boredom, something she didn't understand.
