Chapter Two

Three tense figures were awkwardly fidgeting on the living room couch while four little rascals screamed in the kitchen.

Amelia had let them in after a few reluctant moments, thinking about the children and whether or not it was safe to invite three strangers inside. Eventually, Amelia made up her mind when she heard shouting from the backyard and had to go investigate. She allowed the three in and went back out to bring the other three Blondies inside. They tried to bombard the Yuhen Academy group with questions but Amelia finally coaxed them away with promises of pizza for lunch.

The pizza had finally arrived a few minutes ago and Amelia set out equal slices for all the Blondies. After a moment of thinking, she saved four slices and grabbed four glasses of water from the refrigerator. Now she was making her way to the group in the living room with four paper plates balancing on her arms.

"I hope cheese pizza is alright."

Frita and the other two looked up in surprise as Amelia carefully set down the plates on the coffee table in front of them and went back for the water. Amelia came back and sat on the opposite side of them, with a clear view of the Blondies. The three were picking at their pizza and muttering "thank yous".

"If you don't mind me asking, what are your names?" Amelia asked the other two.

The bulky man with a crew cut and smoldering gray coal eyes who answered Frita's question answered, "Garth Hydler."

To Frita's left was a small girl with the delicate features of a fairy. She had her long brown hair tied back in a tight braid and always had her big pink-tinted chocolate eyes downcast. Her pale skin surprisingly made her eyes pop. Her entire demeanor reminded Amelia of a puppy.

"Jayleen Reed." whispered the small girl.

Amelia smiled at Jayleen and asked, "Are you all part of Yuhen's Academy for the Gifted?"

Frita jumped in, "Yeah we are. Yuhen Academy is really fun and involved with every student. That's why only few get into the school in the first place. Right now there is less than 150 students. And it's a big building too. Has enormous classrooms and great teachers. All the students have to have at least a B average in all their classes to pass..."

Amelia smiled politely and listened carefully to Frita's vivid description on the Academy while keeping an eye on the Blondies. She listened to Garth speak of the physical activities required at the Yuhen Academy and Jayleen whisper of the extracurricular activities. Frita did most of the talking with describing the grand classes they take and the helpful comrades and staff. She even rambled about a few of her friends. Amelia stored the names of Izen, Sweline, Angelo, and Teno along with their overall descriptions in mind. She also made sure to remember some of the teacher's names, especially Mrs. Pin of Literature and Mr. Jusen of World History. Amelia loved these subject and after she warmed herself up to the idea of going to the Academy she thought about trying to get the two teachers.

Without realizing it, three hours flew by with the four engaged in a deep conversation with Amelia politely and occasionally asking appropriate questions. It wasn't until Raphael crashed into her leg that Amelia pulled herself away from the very interesting people.

"Amelia... Stop chatting and come play with us please! We wanna go to the playroom!" Raphael pouted.

Amelia looked up to the grandfather clock in the corner of the living room and finally realized the time.

"I'm so sorry Raphael, I should not of ignored you guys like that. Lets head towards the playroom." Amelia got up to escort the now happy Raphael then turned towards the three and added, "if you don't mind I will have to spend the final hour with the children." Amelia hesitated. Should she invite as well or tell them to stay? She was reluctant to have the Blondies interact with a group of somewhat strangers but her polite side was shunning her for leaving guest.

Amelia finally allowed her politeness to win over and the reassurance she had 911 on speed dial with a few karate lessons up her sleeve. "Would you care to join me?"

Frita jumped a little at the invitation and looked over the other two. "What do you guys wanna do?"

Garth simply grunted while Jayleen hesitantly smiled and whispered "It's alright with me."

Frita clapped her hands-Amelia realized she had a pattern in her movements- and exclaimed "Bueno! Lets go play with some kids!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One hour of running around and scolding and embarrassment and a whole lot of bonding later the four were taking the Blondies back to Amelia's house.

"Dios mio! Those kids sure are a lot of work! How can you handle them Amelia?"

Amelia smiled and replied "They're not so bad. The Anwell's are good parents who are trying to raise respectful children. They're just.... at an early age where all they have is energy."

Jayleen smiled thoughtfully before adding, "They sure have a lot of love for you, Amelia. It's pretty obvious that you can handle them better than us."

Amelia was about to say that they were wonderful help when Garth muttered, "I swear I have no clue how you go without plotting to push one of the kids off a cliff or something."

Frita scowled at Garth, "Garth! Don't say such things right in front of the little Blondies! Like you haven't scared them enough already."

Frita had overheard Amelia call the children Blondies after she had to round them up and stop them from killing Garth. She had latched on to the name like a leech and quickly started to use it whenever possible.

Amelia just said, "It's alright. I know the... children are a little hard to handle at first but you eventually earn their respect."

Jayleen chuckled and bumped shoulders with Amelia. The four of them had quickly bonded after finding each others breaking point thanks to the Blondies and Jayleen turned out to be the shy type who latched on to her friends. Such a loyal person definitely deserved kind friends. It was what Amelia planned to be for them if she could.

"I think you're the only one who thinks it gets easier over time." Jayleen murmured. Her voice was always soft and sweet which made her angered voice -which Amelia heard while Jayleen tried to get the twins to stop fighting- downright adorable and just flustered talk.

Frita threw her head back in laughter before going over and scooping Cathy of her feet, much to Cathy's delight.

"This little devil is just adorable!!" Frita laughed and she swung Cathy around like a doll. A very precious doll. The other three immediately started to complain about special treatment when Amelia's house came into view. Taylor pointed towards it and yelled, "AMELIA'S HOUSE!" before shooting off with the others in tow. They could all see the small red Chevy Impala and sleek white Mazda parked in front of the patio. It was a sign that the Anwell's and Typhun's were finally home.

Amelia and the rest all hurried after the Blondies. Amelia no longer was nervous about Yuhen's Academy. In fact, if there were more people like Frita, Jayleen, and Garth than she was more than happy to join. It seemed like she would be able to focus on her grades and still have comrades. Not friends exactly, but people who were nice to her and would likely take her side.

They all made it to the already swung open patio door and Amelia held it open for the three guests. She followed them to the living room and found the Anwell's and her grandparents all sitting down and gesturing for the three to take the last couch. Amelia was forced to stand in front of the audience as if she was about to perform for them. She felt exactly like that was about to happen.
