"Annabeth, wake up! It's time for school!" a slightly perturbed voice called.

A lot of thirteen year olds wouldn't know what perturbed meant, but Annabeth had always been clever and smart, more so than most kids her age.

As Annabeth walked down the stairs, her stepmother appeared. She opened her mouth to speak, but Annabeth cut her off.

"I'm dressed and I've eaten, my school binders and books are in my backpack, and my teeth are brushed. See you after school."

I'll be in so much trouble later. Annabeth thought as she shut the front door behind her.

Little did she know, it wouldn't matter.
