Evie had a great time with Brendon, but some stuff Evie got suspicious with him. Evie had a feeling that something was wrong with Brendon.
Evie was in her bedroom reading her Stephen King novel. It had a total of 1376 pages and she was near the end. Suddenly, Brendon walked in and sat on Evie's bed, looking interested at the book.
He asked "What are you reading Evie? It does look very interesting."
Evie answered "It's just my favourite book by Stephen King. I'm right near the end. You should read it."
Brendon looked at the blurb of the book. His face looked very concerned.
"Are you sure your ok reading this? It doesn't look very suitable for your age as you are only 12."
"Oh no I'm fine. The home don't mind me reading it. Everyone finds it scary because it's got a clown in it!" Evie said to Brendon, reading the book at the same time.
"Mmm. I'll have a read of it tonight maybe. Oh yes! I forgot to tell you. I'm going to be very busy tonight in my room. It's about work and I've got so much forms to fill out. You'll be ok on your own, right?" Brendon asked quickly.
"But your always doing work at night. You never spend time with me!" Evie raised her voice loudly at Brendon.
"Evie don't be like that! I'm sorry. I've got so much work to do. I will sort this out. I promise, I will." He put his arm around Evie.
Brendon walked out of the room and shut the door quietly. Evie didn't believe him when he said that. She loved him as her own father. But she hated it when he lies to her.
