The Surgeon Of Death

Chapter 14

At the grand hotel the guild had made it up to their rooms. One half went to one room while the other stayed in the main room, but what was waiting for them in the room suprised them. Law sat in a chair reading a medical book on magical energy.

"Law!" Wendy shouted in excitement

The surgeon closed his book after hearing them walk in. The Fairy Tail members were shocked to see him, but the strange thing? He hadn't aged not a day, no greying hair, no wrinkles of any kind.

"To think you did all this"

Makerov approached the head of the group.

"And to think you all lived" he retorted calmly as he raised from his seat

"So you orchestrated everything?" He asked curiously

"No, I just provided assistance" he answered

"He is the one" Master Vermillion said appearing

Everyone saw her, but didn't so Law wouldn't think they were crazy.

"Law will participate in the games with you and help Fairy Tail" she explained

"Unfortunately I will" he agreed

Everyone was shocked to hear a response to something Master Vermillion said. Only members of Fairy Tail could see her and he to their knowledge wasn't.

"Eh, who are you talking to?" Makerov asked hesitantly

"Master Vermillion" he answered calmly and obviously

There was silence.

"EH!!!!" They all shouted

"How can you speak with the first!?" Natsu shouted

Vermillion floated up to his neck pulling his collar down revealing his black Fairy Tail mark. Wendy was overjoyed, but the others had no opinion.

"How?" Makerov stuttered

"It's a personal agreement between me and the master no one else" he answered bluntly

Everyone was suprised by his subtle snap. Makerov was calm and nodded in understanding. Makerov and Law along with Vermillion and a few others.

"Tomorrow is the start of the Grand Magic Games" Law explained

"So who else is entering?" Erza asked

"That depends on who passes" he answered

"What do you mean?" Laxus asked

"Over a hundred guilds participate in these games, but before the actual games begin there is preliminary round" he answered

"So in order for us to take part we must win the preliminary?" Erza asked

"Correct" Law answered

"So do you have idea who could win?" Makerov asked to get a feel of their chances

"Fairy Tail has failed seven years in a row to get past the preliminary, but those for sure to win would be Sabretooth, Lamia Scale, Mermaid Heel" he answered

"Hmm" he said in thought

"I heard there will be two new guilds this year" Law added

"Who?" Mirajane asked

"Raven Tail and and unknown guild, but I have an idea who it might be" he answered

"Can you tell us?" Erza asked

"No, I don't want to act on speculation" he replied quickly

"I see"

A anxious silence came as everyone anticipated what was to come tomorrow.

"You all better get some rest or we'll be draggin feet tomorrow" Makerov reassured

Doing as told the others went to bedrooms though some had to share or sleep on the floor. Makerov sat with Law as he was quite mad that someone was made a member without his approval.

"If you wanted to be a member of Fairy Tail you could've came to me instead of around" he said narrowing his eyes at the blank faced man

"I had no intention of doing so, but Master Vermillion made an agreement with me" he explained

"And that is?"

"Between her and I" he answered

Leaving as he too was tired he went to lay down on a very comfortable couch. Makerov sat on the balcony with the first master as they stared at the moon.

"Will you tell me about this arrangement?" Makerov asked his predecessor

"Sorry Makerov, but that is an agreement between us and a condition that I made" she answered

"So I've been told" he sighed

"Sorry, but unless he tells you I can't say a word"

He looked disappointed in the response, but nonetheless accepted it.

"Don't be so gloomy, maybe this year we might win!" She reassured which brought a smile to his old face

Erza stayed up a little while longer she stood on the balcony too. Seeing Makerov discuss something with the first. He returned after once it was done.

"You're up late"

"Jellal" she spoke softly

She looked at him with narrowed, but soon calmed.

"What are you doing here Jellal?" She pushed

"I came to see who took my place" he answered

"What do you mean?" She asked

"I came to Makerov earlier to see if he can put me one of his teams, but he told me all spots were filled" he explained

"You must mean Law"

"Law?"

"Yes, he helped the guild stay afloat after we disappeared"

"I see, you know of the preliminary round then?"

"Yes, we have our teams picked and ready to make Fairy Tail number one again" she answered

He turned silently pulling his hood over.

"You better win" he said

"We will, you can count on it" she said determined to live to those words
