Chapter 1: Rosa POV
I sat in math class, with my whiteboard up - again the first one with the correct answer. As I waited for the others to finish, I stared at Sean. He looked so cute. He's my first crush and I would die to be his girlfriend.
Too bad Cara is already his girlfriend. Cara is a girl who's popular just because she's blonde and her mom is a teacher. Cara loves Sean and Sean also loves Cara. In fact, Cara was asked to 2 of the dances by Sean. Only one dance, graduation remains. I've heard people say that I was Sean's second choice, but I doubt that. I'm an ordinary boring girl.
Today, Jordan asked Cara to the dance. To be honest, Cara really doesn't like Jordan. Cara said yes in order not to hurt his feelings. I don't want to be selfish or anything... But that means me and Sean could go together.
Soon school is out!!
Oh great. Another day of school. Once again I find myself in front of Locker #33 and opening it. I hear quiet sobs coming from the locker next to me. It's Jordan. He's trying to hide his face because today Cara said I don't want to go to the dance with you. How insanely RUDE. I really hate Cara. Jordan is such a nice friend. Couldn't she make his dream come true once? No, she's too selfish to not go with Sean. It's not like Sean is going to ask her now... Sean and Jordan are best friends.
Today is Friday. The Friday before spring break. Jordan's eyes are red. We head to departure, and when my name gets called I get up and say hope ya feel better and let's chat over break and leave.
FREEDOM!!!
That night, I'm on an airplane to Florida for spring break. I'm in a seat far away from my parents so I have complete freedom. I get airplane wi-fi and decide to text my best friend Mik. She's my soul mate. I tell her all my secrets and trust her with my life. In fact, she's the first person I told about my crush on Sean. We iMessage each other and play some classic truth or dare. Eventually the topic comes up to this:
Mik: Truth or dare?
Rosa: Truth, like always.
Mik: Knew it! Would you ask Sean to the graduation dance?
Rosa: Well ya, he won't ask Cara since Jordan and Sean are besties. And this IS Sean's last dance since he's moving next year.
Mik: I dare you to ask him.
Rosa: Ya know what, I want to. In fact I will. The day we get back from break. It'll be his birthday and it'll be perfect.
Who knows where I got that determination from...
