Corrine didn't leave her apartment until Monday morning to get to classes. She ignored Thalia's incessant phone calls, and tried to get through the weekend without a mental break down.
What type of killer leaves a group of bodies laid across a field for anyone to see?
Corrine turned on the tv and the news story of what happened was playing already.
"Until further notice, classes for all in the college are canceled until further notice." Corrine groaned and walked into her kitchen to make breakfast.
The house phone of the flat rang and Corrine rose an eyebrow. No one ever called the house phone.
"Hello?" She picked up hesitantly.
"Hello, Corrine Evans? We need you down at the station for further questioning," an officer told her.
She sighed. "Sure, I'll be down in maybe a half hour."
She gathered her things and threw on a pair of sneakers to jog down to the station as exercise.
With headphones on, she jogged down the path to the station.
A rock song was blasting in her ears, loud enough to tune out the outside sounds, which was exactly what she wanted.
All of a sudden, she was pulled to the side.
Her earbud was yanked out of her ear and she was shoved against a building wall.
Roman was in front of her. Why was he everywhere I went? She thought.
He grabbed the back of her head and forced her to look into his eyes.
"You will forget everything that happened last night," he ordered, his pupils growing in size.
"What the fuck?" Corrine asked, shoving him away from her.
Roman looked at her strangely, before repeating the same statement. "You will forget-"
"Obviously I'm not going to forget," she said, shifting further away from him. "There were bodies on the fucking ground!"
"What the hell, it's supposed to work!" He growled, narrowing his eyes at her. "What are you?" He spat, now glaring at her.
"What am I?" She repeated in disbelief.
"Yes, what are you?" He repeated.
"I'm normal, unlike you!" She yelled, shoving his body away from his. "Are you off your meds or some shit?!"
"Meds..." he said, trailing off.
Then he moved closer and sniffed her neck.
"What-" she cut herself off when he licked her neck.
Heat formed in between her thighs, but she pushed it down, her mind straying to Friday.
"You're mundane," he asked, surprised. "Why can't I compel you?"
"What else would I be if I wasn't 'mundane'?" She asked, scrunching her eyebrows together.
Roman muttered something under his breath, but she couldn't quite catch it.
"Why do you take meds?" He asked suddenly.
Her eyes widened. How did he know she took meds?
"Wh-what, I don't take meds," she stammered.
