Daydream smirked at her
reflection in the mirror
"What were we talking
about? You know what,
it doesn't matter, nothing
matters except whatever
you want. Dream. Dream of
Fluffy clouds and castles
In the air."Nothing made sense
So she escaped from
reality to fantasy
A world where anything
was nothing and
Time was
never the same
or as you exceptedShe laughed at
luminosity and melancholy Chuckling at the jokes
which rhymed with time
Lost in mind-
less wanderings and
numbing expectationsShe would close her eyes
and awake to realms
of opportunity and adventure
mystery and enigmas
A place where heroes
And heroines counted her
amongst their own
No one tore her down
or derided her in anger
A place where she
could roam
Could feel at homeBut it all crashed in
on her, tumbling
Falling like oblivion once
the glass cage had
been cracked
Shattered by the cold
finger of realityBut it was all her fault
She had pushed them away
Her thin layer of protective
fantasy, of safety in dreams
could never remain in place
like she wished
and prayed forShe knew one day
that it would happen
She knew responsibility would
come tapping on her shoulder
and pounding in her mind
Waking her up to the
reality of life and service
that years demandedSo the balance began
A mix of reality to walk
and move forward with life
But a smattering of
fantastic colours on her canvas
to remind her not all
was harsh black and whiteShe could still dream
at night when darkness
clouded the path
and sunshine refused to
point out a way
But reality remained
in place
