Explosions echoed through the night, shaking the walls of our home. The rumbling booms sent waves of fear through my little body as I clutched my blanket, trying to make sense of the chaos outside. I could hear distant screams, mingling with the crashing sounds of buildings collapsing. My heart pounded in my chest, too fast, too loud. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I began to cry.

Suddenly, the door to my bedroom burst open, and my mother rushed in, her face pale with urgency. Her usually calm demeanor was replaced with panic as she hurried toward me.

"Jesa, baby, get up! Hurry!" she shouted, her voice strained but steady enough to snap me out of my daze. She wasted no time, pulling clothes from my drawer with shaky hands and dressing me as quickly as she could.

I was still trying to understand what was happening, my chubby four-year-old legs too slow to keep up. I tried to move, but I could barely walk fast enough to keep pace with her frantic movements. My legs felt like lead, too short to escape the growing danger. Without a word, she bent down and scooped me into her arms, holding me tightly against her chest.

We sped through the hallways of our home—our beautiful home on Krypton, now trembling under the weight of destruction. I buried my face in her shoulder, trying to block out the thunderous noise. The world around me was falling apart, and I didn't understand why.

We reached the launch room. There, I saw my sister, Kara, standing by our father. They had just arrived, hand in hand, both looking as confused and scared as I felt. Kara's blue eyes were wide, searching the room for answers, but our father's face was grim with certainty.

A small pod sat in the center of the room, its metallic surface gleaming under the dim emergency lights. My father worked quickly, his hands flying over the control panel as more explosions rocked the ground beneath us. The crashes were growing louder, closer. I felt my stomach twist in fear.

"Mommy!" I cried, my voice trembling as I clung to her. My tears soaked into her shirt as I looked up at her, desperate for comfort. She glanced down at me, her face softening despite the terror around us.

"It's okay, baby," she whispered, her voice soothing even as she fought to hold back her own fear. "Everything's going to be okay." She stroked my hair gently, trying to calm me as my father continued his work on the pod.

"Kara," he said, his voice deep and steady, though his eyes betrayed the weight of what he was about to say. "You're going to Earth. You'll take care of Kal-El—and your sister." He glanced at me, then back at Kara. His words were firm, as if he were giving a command, but there was a sadness there too.

Kara's lip trembled, and she shook her head, her blonde curls bouncing slightly as she clutched our father's hand tighter. "But I don't want to leave you," she whimpered, her voice small and broken. The thought of being separated from our parents terrified her, and I could see the fear mirrored in her eyes.

Our father knelt beside her, resting a hand on her shoulder. "I know you don't," he said softly, his voice laced with regret. "But you must. The planet's sun will give you incredible powers. You'll need those abilities to protect them—both of them." His gaze shifted toward the ceiling for a moment, where the sounds of war raged on above us, before he looked back at Kara.

Kara swallowed hard and nodded slowly, though the tears spilling down her cheeks betrayed her fear. "Okay, Dad," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She stepped forward and hugged him tightly, her small arms wrapping around his neck.

He held her for a moment longer, then turned to me. He crouched down, pulling me into his arms. "Jesa, baby," he murmured, pressing his cheek against mine. "You listen to your sister, okay? I love you, always."
