{FE Takumi x Reader} "This was meant to be"

Here it is, the first one-shot to this book. Takumi is one of my favourite characters from Fire Emblem Fates so I thought it was a good idea to start with him. ^^

After being able to finally persuade both of her families (Hoshido and Nohr) to join her in her quest to stop the madness that was creeping inside her father, or who she once thought was her father anyway, the girl finally found peace and was able to take a burden out of her chest – after all, she didn't want to fight any of her brothers.

After the long trip and rollercoaster of emotions they decided to first rest in Hoshido. This was a place she had grown quite fond of despite not knowing it for long. It just felt right, like a long-lost memory. Under the moonlight, she walked towards the beautiful lake. The crystal clear water mirrored the sky, making it look like there were two worlds colliding with each other (which isn't far from the truth). Two halves that wanted to touch each other, make one, but just couldn't. Y/N sighed, her features revealed sadness, that thought reminded her of two persons: herself and...

"I see you grew attached to this place" a voice came from behind "I don't blame you for it." The owner of said tender voice chuckled lightly.

"Ah... Takumi. I didn't notice you get here." The H/C haired girl turned towards the male and sent him a lovely smile. He could feel his face grow a little hotter as a small tint of red found its way to his cheeks. He truly adored that smile. It's true, he hated her at first, he was consumed by hatred that he couldn't see past it, but once he got to know her, he feel in love. Head over heels. He was lost in thought when he heard her talk and wave her hand in front of his face.

"Hmm.. Takumi? Are you feeling ill?" she asked with worry in her voice. When he didn't answer, she brought her hand to his forehead to see if he was burning up with fever. Being so close so suddenly made Takumi wake up from his trance and his cheeks now turned completely red. "No. You don't have a fever... that's odd" she commented as she started removing her hand from his forehead. The lack of contact left Takumi a bit disappointed – in one swift movement he grabbed her hand and brought it to his face. This interaction surprised her and she flinched, the girls E/C eyes widened and her mouth slightly parted.

"T-takumi...?" now it was her time to blush. Her heart was beating fast and it felt like it was ready to jump out of her chest at any moment. There was tension in the air and not a single sound, except the low hum of the wind, could be heard. She was sure he was going to hear her heartbeat. She felt weak in his arms, like something was stopping her from breaking apart. She knew what it was... despite trying to fight off those wrong feeling towards her brother, she just couldn't. She fought so hard to get close to him and create a bond with him that she ended up falling in love with her own brother. What a repugnant freak, right? That's what she always thought. Little did she know that he felt the same way.

"I – I can't take it any longer. Forgive me Y/N..." Takumi broke the silence taking in a deep breath, preparing himself for what he was about to do. "Uh? For wha... ?!" her words were interrupted by his lips crashing onto hers. She was shocked, she tried to fight it but her feelings towards him were stronger and she melted into the kiss, closing her eyes in the process. He was ready to accept the consequences of his actions but he was surprised with her reaction. He smiled into the kiss and broke apart, their foreheads still touching.

"I – I love you Y/N. I can't deny it any longer..." he confessed.

She wanted to smile, embrace him and tell him just how much she loved him as well, but her conscience didn't let her do that. Instead she tried pulling away from him, tears threatening to fall.

"But you're my brother. We shouldn't be doing this... it's... it's wrong!" she said, pain clearly shown on her voice. However, he didn't let go of her. Takumi kept her in a deep embrace and gazed into her eyes.

"I know..." his voice carried sadness "but I just can't ignore these feelings I have for you any longer... I – I really love you Y/N, not just as a sister." She didn't move, her mouth slightly agape as if not knowing what to say. She knew she felt the same way towards the man that just confessed to her, but what about the boundaries of family ties? Dating her OWN brother? How would that work and how would Ryoma, Sakura and Hinoka react? Surely they would fell disgusted...

As if sensing what she was thinking, Takumi closed the gap between them and kissed her again. She tried to fight back once more but soon enough she kissed back, deepening the kiss. As they broke apart for air, he smiled and looked deep into her eyes. "Don't mind the others, it's just me and you, they have nothing to do with our lives."

"B-But Takumi..." she started to protest. "You know..." he interrupted "...they would support us anyway."

"What about my Nohrian family? Camilla, Xander, Elise ... Leo?" she paused before saying that last name. Takumi clicked his tongue in annoyance and let go of her. Turning his face to the other side, he looked anywhere but her. "I can't stand hearing you say his name like that" his words carried pain and ... jealousy?

"Uh?" she seemed baffled by his attitude as if letting go of her made her feel cold, rejected. "Takumi, what's wrong? Why... why..."

"I just hate it!" he spat, now turning to face her. She was a bit taken aback. "The way he looks at you.... How you two are close. Leo is always there! Every time he speaks to you, holds you, smiles at you... annoys me to no end!" he cried out.

"Are you... Are you jealous Takumi?" a small smile appearing on the girls face. Takumi stiffened himself and a slight blush tinted his pale cheeks. "I ... I just confessed to you... what do you think I'm feeling?" he looked down, avoiding her gaze, embarrassed by his own attitude. She chuckled slightly, she couldn't deny the fact that she loved seeing this side of him... caring , yet possessive (NOT YANDERE POSSESSIVE!! XD). "Oh, Takumi... if we just could... my heart... my heart belongs to you and you alone, but..." she bite her lip as if the next words she was going to pronounce would kill her. He finally faced her once more, determination plastered on his handsome features. "There's no buts Y/N ! We can pull this off, I'm sure..." he stopped himself, carefully choosing his next words "what if... what if I told you that you aren't really our sister?" her eyes widened in confusion "Wha-what do you mean?" he hesitantly took out a letter from his pocket "Mother... she gave me this. She said that I should open it if I ever felt confused about the person I was falling in love with." He smile, reminiscing the memories he had with his mother "she always had the gift of knowing" he handed her the letter. She started reading the words written on the paper, letting it all sink in. Happiness as well as confusion and a bit of sadness took over her. Takumi and Y/N could be together at last but this meant that she was lost once more – twice she was lied to about her family. 'Who am I?' the question kept creeping up on her mind.

"I'm sorry..." He said, pained that he had hurt her. "Y/N... I know this must be hard on you. I—I wasn't planning on letting you know like this but—but I just couldn't live without you... without being able to hold you, kiss you... I just can't ignore what we have any further." Tears started streaming down her face. His eyes widened and he began to feel guilty, like he should've never told her anything... it saddened him to see her cry like that. But her next move took him by surprise. She threw her arms around him and held him in a tight embrace. "—Y/N?" he stuttered but managed to hug her back.

"I—I'm not sad... if anything, I am happy that I can finally be with you... it's just, all of this... it's so confusing... all that I lived was a lie. Who am I?" she buried her face in the nape of his neck. Takumi smiled and moved his hand to her chin, forcing her to look him in the eyes. "You're you. You're Y/N, the women I love with all my heart" he smiled as she blushed, mouth slightly agape. With his thumb he wiped her tears. "Your family does not define you and for all that I know we, Hoshido and Nohr, will always be your family. Ryoma and the others love you like a sister and no matter what, we'll always be by your side."

Finally her lips turned into a beautiful smile "You're right Takumi. Thank you..." this time it was her that closed the distance between them. Standing on her toes, she placed a tender kiss on his lips, which he happily welcomed and deepened.

"I will never let you go... I love you."

"I love you more, Y/N."
