Refraining from accepting stupid and dangerous dares from Paul Lahote was Y/N's biggest weakness, and it drove Seth absolutely insane.
She'd grown up alongside Seth Clearwater, the two inseparable since the day they learned how to walk. They were best friends, partners in crime; there was no other more ideal imprint for Seth.
Which is why there was virtually no surprise from any of the elders once he shifted and imprinted on her for the first time. The only shock came from Y/N herself, and even she got over that in record time.
Their current status was unknown. Technically, they carried out all the notions of an actual couple, but they hadn't quite given themselves that label yet.
Currently, Y/N was standing on her hands, pressed up against the wall. She'd been like that for about eight minutes now, and her arms just begun to wobble. Beside her, Paul wore a shit-eating grin as his thick arms kept him upright without trouble. How she found herself in this predicament, you ask?
It all started once Seth and Leah joined the pack. Wherever Seth was, Y/N was bound to follow, which meant she spent a lot more time at Emily's house. Which was all parts awkward, considering how close Y/N was with Leah.
But it grew on her, undeniably. Emily's house had a sense of home, and though nobody would say it out loud, a home was exactly what Y/N needed.
And of course, the more time she spent at Emily's, the closer she got to the pack of overgrown toddlers. Paul especially, much to Seth and Leah's dismay.
Ever since the two met, they hit it off immediately. Both Paul and Y/N were proud people, and when you put together the prideful, mess comes out.
It had been a constant battle of dares and challenges, and since neither Paul nor Y/N were particularly scared of much, the dares and challenges were always followed through with. Well, almost always.
Understandably, Seth was extremely over-protective of Y/N. She was his imprint, and he would rather die than see her in any kind of harm. He nearly had an aneurism when Y/N and Paul had a 'who-can-go-longest-without-breathing' contest. But he did have a point; Y/N was human, and Paul was a shapeshifter. There were certain things that he could do, and Y/N couldn't.
As soon as Seth came striding into Emily's house, he saw the two idiots, and let his eyes flutter shut, a deep sigh leaving his lips. He pinched the bridge of his nose, and Y/N fought the urge to laugh at him.
"What're you two morons doing this time?"
Y/N let out a breathy little laugh, black spots splotching her vision as her arms shook.
"You know what? I don't even remember," she laughed, cursing quickly as her elbow buckled. "all I know is that I'm gonna kick Paul's ass."
"In your dreams, short stuff," he hummed easily, as though he hadn't been upside down for the past fifteen or so minutes. "there's no way I'm coming down before you-"
In one swift movement, Seth threw his fist forward, hitting Paul directly in the stomach. The wolf cursed, his elbows buckling. Within seconds, he was in the ground, groaning.
"Seth," he seethed, glaring up at the younger boy. "I'm gonna kill you." Y/N gracefully let herself down, stumbling into Seth as all the blood rushed to her head. He took her by the elbows, trying to look irritated with her and failing, unable to keep his eyes off of her as she wrapped her arms around his middle.
"I win," she said, grinning down at Paul with obvious amusement. Seth was probably the only one in the pack who could've gotten away with hitting Paul, and he often used that to his advantage. "and you lose."
