"Is it true, Jacob?"

"What will it be?"

"It's growing fast!" 

"It's unnatural!"

"Dangerous!"

"Monstrosity!"

"An abomination!"

Y/N watched in horror as Jacob's train of thought flowed into their linked minds, gruesome images of an obviously ill Bella, her stomach swollen and bruised with a fetus that was killing her slowly from the inside. As if that wasn't bad enough, each and every one of her packmates seemed content with killing it. Except for Seth, of course.

She turned to look at her imprint, who stood tall by her side, his ears perked nervously. She pressed against his side, nose burying itself in his throat as she whined.

"On our land..."

"We can't allow it."

"We can't allow it."

"We can't allow it."

"We can't allow it."

Seth rested his head on hers, trying to soothe her despite his own nerves. Seeing everyone's eagerness to kill an innocent baby was shaking him as well as his imprint, the two of them watching quietly as the wolves circled Jacob, who looked incredibly vulnerable in that moment.

"We have to protect the tribe." The authority in Sam's tone had forced Seth and Y/N to look up at him, a towering black mass of sharp teeth and furious eyes. "What they've bred won't be able to control its thirst. Every human will be in danger."

"We're ready."

"No time to waste."

Jacob snarled, and Y/N winced at the incredulity in his voice. "Now?"

"We must destroy it before it's born!"

Y/N let out a yelp at the command beneath the statement, realizing what exactly Sam was forcing them all to do.

"You mean..." Seth whimpered, nipping at Y/N's ear anxiously. "Kill Bella?"

He loped forwards, standing ground beside an obviously distraught Jacob. His mental track made Y/N let out a nervous whine as she moved to stand protectively beside her mate.

"Her choice affects us all," he snarled, and Seth winced as Sam bared his teeth, an obvious display of dominance. She could see Jacob desperately grabbing at whatever leverage he could to save Bella from his own family.

"Bella's human," he snapped, his frustration ever-growing. "our protection applies to her."

"She's dying anyway!"

Leah's response was quick and vicious, holding down too much heat behind the cruel words. It was true- Bella was dying. That was evident enough, and though the rest of them had seemed to accept the fact, Jacob obviously hadn't. He was going for Leah's throat before anybody could even blink.

"Enough! We have real enemies to fight tonight."

Y/N could feel her heart stutter in her chest, and her head swung towards Seth for any type of direction. She wasn't sure how she was supposed to gain enough composure to kill an innocent woman and her unborn child by tonight.
