Today was the day. The day we end it. The morning and afternoon seemed to go by in a blur, in fact I hardly remember even going to school on that treacherous Friday. After school was over Liam, Nolan, and Corey stayed at school to get ready for the game tonight, while Mason went with Isla, Althea, and me to meet up with Theo before the big game. Lucy hadn't shown up to school but she had called me and said that her secret weapon was a few hours away, but she would be back in time with it."I still feel bad not telling Scott," Mason sighed from the driver seat of his car. We had drove to a nearby fast food chain to get food, but it wasn't until we got here that we all realized we were too nervous to eat the greasy junk.
"If we texted the rest of the group about what's happening right now, they'd be informed but none of them would be able to make it here," Althea pointed out.
"That's true, the game is in an hour and the closest person is Kira, but even she is three hours away," Nolan responded.
"I'll text them in the big group chat," Isla said, pulling her phone out of the back pocket of her charcoal colored skinny jeans.
"We should probably head to the school to set everything up," Theo suggested. Mason nodded, putting the keys into the car and starting the engine. Once we'd reached the school, the five of us surveyed the area, and hid some weapons in the forest. The tension was thick in the air, a feeling of dread settling over all of us.
"Is everything ready?" Liam asked us, his jersey number being the same one that was painted onto my cheek and also on the t-shirt I was wearing wearing. I nodded, my eyes scanning the bleachers that were beginning to fill with people.
"Liam, if something happens tonight... I just want to tell you that—"
"Baby, nothing is going to happen. We're all going to make it through this, so don't talk like that. Don't think I forgot about your plans to celebrate," Liam cut me off, looking into my eyes that were so dark compared to his. He was making a joke but I could tell he was terrified.
"I know. Okay, the game's starting, go out there and kick ass! I'll see you at halftime," I responded, pressing a kiss which I had intended to just be a small one for good luck, but turned out to be a quite lengthy interaction.
I sat on the cold, metal bleachers with Mason to my left and Isla to my right. About ten minutes before halftime, I felt Isla's bony elbow in my ribcage.
"There," She whispered, eyes lingering over a tall man. "The guy in the suit. That's Asklepios."
"Holy shit, he's hot. Why are the bad guys always hot?" Althea said softly.
"Now, Liam," I spoke, knowing the werewolf would hear me. In moments, my boyfriend was running full speed at Corey — who was frozen in his place. The two collided, a solid cracking of bones being heard throughout the whole field, followed by gasps.
