It was finally Friday and I couldn't wait to have my first weekend off of school. I hope the rest of the school year gets better and that I make more friends. I also hope since it is Friday that it will be a better day and that it goes by fast. Although I have nothing to do now over the weekend since Sophie has moved. So, I do not know what I am going to do. I was back in school and was a nervous wreck. I was sitting at lunch again all by myself until an unexpected visitor came by. It was EJ! "Hey Sara, Do you mind if I sit with you?" He asked me politely. "No, not at all. It is better than sitting by myself." I replied softly. EJ sat across from me and we were the only two kids at the back tables. "Man, this cafeteria food is gross." EJ said with a disgusted face. I giggled and tried not to blush. "I am glad I pack and do not have to buy my food." I laughed. EJ also laughed with me. "You are really fun to hang out with Sara. I wish there was more people like you in this school." He told me with a smile. I smiled back at him. "Who do you usually hang out with?" I asked him. "I do not have a lot of friends. I sit with a group over there but no one talks to me and if they do it is just a joke about my name." He said softly. "Awe, I am sorry. Well you are more than welcome to sit here anytime you want. I have no friends so it would be nice if at least one person that is nice to me sits here." I replied with a tear. EJ came over to the other side and sat next to me. "I am shocked no one wants to be your friend. You are a very nice girl. Do you have any friends outside of school?" EJ asked. I softly started to tear up more. "My best friend, Sophie but she moved on Sunday." EJ was silent for a minute. "I am sorry to hear that. Do you still talk to her?" I looked away because I wanted to cry really hard but I didn't want him to see me cry. It was hard for me to talk about Sophie because she was my best friend then she moved and now she doesn't talk to me. "No. I tried to call her but she never answered. I also sent her several texts and a message on social medias and she has seen them but never replied." I replied softly. EJ felt bad, he could tell I was down. "I am sorry Sara. I know that must be hard. I am your friend so if you ever need to talk to someone you can message or call me." He replied in a sad voice because he hated seeing me sad. He took a piece of paper and wrote his number down. "You can text me tonight if you want." He said with a smile. I smiled back and put the piece of paper in my lunch box. School was finally over and Sharla didn't say anything but she gave me the death stare in math class. I started walking home and I was still pretty far from where my mom was. I passed a wooded area and as I was passing it I hear footsteps and something moving in the back. I stopped and stood there for a minute. "Hello? Who is there?" I shouted. I continued walking and looked again and I saw something big and black run through the woods. My heart started beating fast, I started running to get to where my mom was faster. All of the sudden a black shiny horse jumped out of the woods and got right in front of me forcing me to stop. The horse was breathing heavily, he was dirty, he looked like he was starving and he had really bad scars. I walked up to him slowly trying to get a better look at him. As I got closer I tried putting my hand out but when I did that he reared up in fear. "You poor thing. Where is your owner?" I said softly to him. The horse was pawed and snorted as if he was trying to tell me something. It looked as if he was saying that he had a bad owner. "You didn't have a good owner, did you?" I said again in a soft voice. The horse pricked his ears up and started to walk towards me. It was like he was listening to me. He got closer to me as if he trusted me. He leaned his head towards me and I cautiously placed my hand on his muzzle. The horse was letting me pet him, it was amazing. "Where should you go? You can't just stay out in the wild. You could get hurt." I told him softly. The horse nickered like he was telling me something else. I started to walk around him to see what would happened and the horse followed me. "You trust me don't you?" I smiled. The horse pricked his ears forward and nickered again. The horse followed me all the way home. "Honey, who is that horse?!" My mom shouted as I approached her with the horse right behind me. "Mom, this horse I think was abused and escaped. Now he is following me." I told her. My mom shook her head. "Honey, you don't know this horse. He could be dangerous. Also we have no where for him to stay." She replied to me in a firm voice. "Mom, he isn't dangerous. Also we have that old little barn in the back of our house. We also have a small paddock. Can he please stay with us? Please?" I asked. My mom looked at the horse then looked back at me. "I will make a deal with you. He can stay until we find his real owner. If we do not find the owner in a week then you can keep him." She smiled because she could tell I loved this horse. I looked up at the horse I could tell he was worried. "Mom, I do not think it is a good idea to try and find his owner. I really do think his owner abused him. Please can he just stay with us without looking for the owner." I asked in tears. I couldn't imagine what that horse went through and how he got out. I could see the horse was scared and upset. I would be too if I was him. An owner is supposed to love their horse, not abuse them. My mom sighed "We will see honey. I will allow you to keep him but if we see any signs or get phone calls about him then we will have to give him back. So as for now he is yours." She smiled again. I hugged my mom because I could tell she wanted to try and help this horse. I took him to the little barn and there was a little stall that was perfect for him. "Here you go pretty boy. What should your name be? I can't just call you the horse." I laughed. I then thought for a moment of the perfect name. I looked into the horse's eyes and as soon as I did the name Midnight came to my head. "What about Midnight?" I said. The horse whinnied as if he agreed with me. I giggled, I really have a connection with Midnight even though we just met. It was like we were meant to be together. The only bad thing is, I do not know how to ride a horse or even really take care of one. I will have to do some research on it. I do not necessarily have to ride but I need to figure out how to take care of him. "I will see you tomorrow Midnight. It is the weekend tomorrow so I will be able to spend all day with you." I smiled. "Goodnight, my beautiful boy. I love you." I then walked out and went to bed. As I was getting ready to lay down in my bed with my cozy purple pajamas I got a text. I read the text and it was from EJ. The text said "Hey Sara, It is me EJ from school. I was just wondering how your day has been so far. I hope you have a fun weekend!" I blushed as soon I saw it. I felt like I was finally making some friends. I sent him a text back that said "My day went pretty good. I have a horse now. His name is Midnight and I can tell he is a special horse." Then I laid down my phone and went to bed. I dreamed all about my special horse.
