A few months later it was almost summer and the rest of the school year was great. We had a new teacher named Ms. Grace and she was so sweet and supportive. Me and Sharla got along and became friends with me. She even sat at the table with me and EJ at lunch. Me, Sharla and EJ were all great friends now. We called each other all the time. I also am jumping a bit now I went over a few cross rails the other day and it was awesome. Today we were heading to the barn and this time it was with both EJ and Sharla. Sharla loved Midnight and she was very nice to him. Sometimes people can change for the good. I tacked up Midnight and got him all warmed up. "He looks fun to ride Sara." Sharla said to me as I was walking Midnight around the ring. "Sharla, he is a dream to ride. It feels like I am on a cloud." I said to her. I started trotting and cantering him around the ring. Midnight had a lot of energy but listened very well to me. After about ten minutes of trotting and cantering Jill came in. "Sara how about you and your friends come with me." She said us. I dismounted Midnight and lead him outside with Jill. She took me to the cross country course. "Why are we out here?" I asked Jill. "I think you are ready to really jump now. You have gotten so much more confident and you and Midnight work perfect together. I really think you can take a try at the course." Jill explained to me. I wasn't really sure but I looked back and saw my friends cheering me on. "You can do it Sara!" Shouted Sharla. "Yeah, we believe in you!" Shouted EJ. I agreed to try and mounted Midnight. I trotted Midnight around the course to get a look at it then asked for a canter. We went towards the first jump and I wasn't nervous at all "I trust you Midnight. We can do it. Let's fly." I whispered to him. Midnight listened to me and we cleared over that first jump. I smiled "Good boy." I said to him. I saw Jill and my friends cheering for me. Then me and Midnight finished the course. We were literally flying. We came towards the last jump which had water next to it. We flew over it and finished the course. We trotted back to my friends feeling proud. "That was amazing, you looked incredible out there." Jill said to me. I smiled and gave Midnight a huge hug. "That was so cool Sara!" Sharla shouted. "You were literally flying." EJ said to me and winked. "That was so much fun!" I said to them. Even Midnight enjoyed it. I dismounted and gave him a pat. We lead Midnight back to the barn and unsaddled him. Sharla and EJ helped and put the tack away. As I was alone with Midnight I talked to him "Thank you Midnight. That was amazing. I love you Midnight. You are my best friend." I whispered to him. I spent every day with Midnight and our bond was strong. I continued jumping him and we got better and better. It was finally summer and I still spent time with my friends but most of it was with Midnight. Jill signed me and Midnight up for a show and today was the day. I was so nervous. We arrived and there were tons of competitors. We brought EJ and Sharla too for support. Jill pulled me to the side right before my round "Sara, I just want to tell you how proud I am of you. You went from this insecure girl to this confident lady. Now you have friends you can always count on including Midnight. I suggest you give him a little pep talk too. All I will say is do what you and Midnight do best which is fly." Jill said to me. I smiled at her then went over to Midnight. "You ready boy? We can do this. Remember we are a team. Let's work together and fly." I whispered to Midnight. It was finally time for our round and I mounted Midnight. "You will be amazing sweetie." My mom said to me. "Good luck!" Sharla said to me. EJ grabbed me hand "Go have fun Sara. Remember it is all about having fun. Just go out there and ride. Don't just ride but fly." EJ said to me then went with my mom, Sharla and Jill to the seats. "Alright next up we got Sara with her beautiful horse Midnight!" The announcer shouted. Me and Midnight started on the course. We were going over the jumps like they were nothing. "These two are working well together but will they be able to get over the final jump?" The announcer shouted. We were finally arriving to the final jump and it had water under it and we would have to cross the water. This jump was huge though it was probably the biggest me and Midnight ever jumped. As we headed towards it I heard the crowd cheering us on. "It is our chance boy. We can do it. Let's fly again." I whispered to him. Midnight went over the jump like it was nothing and we gracefully landed. "And time!" The announcer shouted. The crowd roared with excitement. "That was incredible!" Jill said to me. I smiled and felt amazing. I patted Midnight and dismounted. We waited for the results nervously. "And the winner.....is.......Sara and Midnight! Great job you two! You show what a team really is!" The announcer shouted. I gave Midnight a big hug and a kiss on his muzzle. Midnight even looked happy and proud. All my friends gave me a hug. After what I went through this year this is one thing I needed. Through all of those tough times from being bullied, having a mean teacher to even Sophie ending our friendship Midnight was always there. I have to say that out of all of those people Midnight would be that one friend that will stay with me until I die. Midnight is not just my friend, he is my best friend.
