Chapter 10: "What if they're in Suriname?"

Kayla's POV

It was around 7:00 when Ethan woke me up. "Kayla, we gotta eat something and move on with our trip." I slowly stood up. " and grabbed some fish and coconuts from my bag. "I've eaten so many coconuts that I can barely see a coconut." Ethan smiled. "We will get home. I promise." I raised my pinky. "Pinky promise?" Ethan wrapped his pinky around mine. "Pinky promise." I smiled at him. Ethan is so childish. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it again. "Nevermind."

When I was done with my food I walked over to Veronica who was trying to open her coconut. "Hey, V." She looked up at me. "Oh hey, Kayla. How's life?" I sighed. "A bit shitty, not gonna lie." She gestured me to sit next to her. "What's wrong? Apart from being on a deserted island with Ethan Dolan and your dangerous perverted gym teacher." She only just realized what she has said to me. "Oh my god, Kayla. I'm so sorry I-" Before she was able to finish I cut her off. "It's okay, honestly. Don't worry about it." She didn't say anything and just hugged me. "Well, let's go after I finally open my coconut."

Ethan's POV

I saw Kayla walking over to Veronica. She really looks upset. I gotta get us home no matter what. "You know, she's really sad." I heard Grayson say to my right. "I know." I sighed. He gave me the rest of the coconut water. "Thanks." I drank all of it. Grayson stared at me. "Just don't screw up like last time, Ethan." I looked at Kayla. "I'm not going to, dude. Not again.

Our conversation was interrupted by the one and only, Mr. Smith. "Alright, everyone. Let's get going." I glared at him and picked up my backpack. I walked over to Kayla and picked up hers before she could. "I got it," I said and put the other one on my chest. "Thanks, but you don't have to. My legs work perfectly fine." I smirked. "Well, mine are strong enough to take 2 bags." She laughed. "Oh my, you must be the strongest of all," She said in a rich-people accent.

"Let's get going," I said, grabbing her hand and helping her up. When she got up, I looked into her eyes for 5 seconds. Her beautiful green eyes looked so curious. She broke our eye contact and started walking. "Are you coming or not?" She asked and I ran up to her. "Yeah," I said out of breath. "Good," She said turning around playfully and walking to the rest.

We have been walking for at least 3 hours and were all tired, but we keep on walking. We were following a stream, to the source. We all wanted to take a shower and drink some normal water. We finally found it. It was a beautiful waterfall going into a lake. "Alright, everyone. Let's drink some water and take a shower." I saw him smirking at Kayla and her feeling uncomfortable. I walked over to her. "Hey, you can still keep your clothes on." I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah, I'll just go with my clothes. That man really needs to stop behaving like a pedophile." I sighed. "I know. Well, I'm gonna go in the water," I said taking off my shirt. She slowly got in the water with her clothes still on. I splashed some water on her hoping it would get her a bit happier. "Stop," she screamed but still laughing. That laugh was my motivation to keep going. She started splashing water back and I laughed. "Since when do we struggle back?" I asked and stopped. "Since I'm born because I always struggle back." She smiled.

Zasha's POV

I studied the air currents all night and I'm just so tired. I walked in geography class, waiting for him to let me explain it, just so when I'm done, I could laugh in his face. "And, Zasha. Do you know it?" "Know what?" I was trying to let him think I didn't know it. "The air currents of the Pacific Ocean." I heard the irritation in his voice. Boy, I am gonna teach this man a lesson. I stood up and told him everything.

He was speechless with my answers. "Well, good.. job." I held my head up high and sat back down. "Hey, good one," My best friend Katy said. "I know, I just want to-" My phone started vibrating in my pants. "Sir, can I go to the bathroom?" I asked in my most sweet voice. "Uhm, sure." He was still a bit shocked from me actually being smart. Man, you really know you're dumb when your teacher is shocked if you get something right.

I went to the bathroom and looked at my phone: 2 missed calls from Thomas. What does he want now? I called him back.

"Hey, what is it?"

"So, I was thinking, what if they're in Suriname?"

I sighed, knowing who he was talking about with 'they'.

"And why do you think that?"

"Well, I helped you studying last night and I actually picked up some information."

"Okay, so.... tell me later, this is my last hour."

"See ya."

"Bye."

I walked back to my classroom and continued my lesson. Why does he think that they're in Suriname? I guess we'll see later.
