NATE'S POV
"Why can't you tell us?" Talia whined, putting down her piece of toast and glaring at Josh.
Josh, who was sat opposite her on the kitchen table, continued to devour his plate of scrambled eggs without so much as glancing up at her. "Because," he mumbled between mouthfuls, "I don't want to."
"Why not?" I asked, kicking Josh under the table to get his attention.
All three of us were eating our breakfast while discussing Josh's date the night before with Sophie.
When he'd arrived home, Talia had immediately bombarded him with questions, but he had refused to answer.
She was persistent, however, and had stayed up late last night bothering him about whether they had kissed and if they were going on another date and whether or not he really liked her. Josh had not replied to any of her questions and by the looks of things, it was really beginning to frustrate her.
"If you really want to know just go ask Sophie," Josh shrugged and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
"She won't tell me either," Talia moaned, picking up her spoon and throwing it at him. "She still thinks I was trying to sabotage your date."
To be fair, from Sophie's perspective it really had seemed like Talia was trying to sabotage their date. She'd turned up at the restaurant suspiciously dressed all in black and had left covered in spaghetti after pulling down a waiters trousers. If that hadn't ruined their date then I don't know what could have.
"Hey!" Josh cried, as the spoon hit his arm. "Not my fault your friend doesn't trust you."
"She does trust me!"
"Oh really?" He raised an eyebrow in disbelief, "Then why doesn't she tell you?"
"BECAUSE CLEARLY YOU'VE CAST SOME KIND OF SPELL ON HER!" Talia yelled, throwing her arms in the air dramatically.
"If I could cast spells then you would not be able to talk right now," Josh mumbled under his breath.
"Alright you lunatic," I stood up and pulled out Talia's chair. It was best to take action before one of them starting getting physical. "We need to get to school, you can yell at Josh when we get back."
We weren't running late, but we still had to go pick up Sophie. Plus, the quicker I got her away from Josh the safer he was.
"Thank God you're leaving," Josh let out a sigh of relief and sat back in his chair.
"You just watch, I will find out! I will!" Talia yelled, standing up and swinging her school bag over her shoulder.
I dragged her out the door as she continued to yell at Josh, threatening to steal his action figures.
Mature, Talia.
Real mature.
We got in the car and made our way to Sophie's house, Talia complaining about my slow driving like she usually did while I told her about the importance of following the speed limit. It was hard enough driving on the opposite side of the road, but putting up with Talia's constant complaining was a whole different challenge.
"Hey Nate," Sophie greeted me as she got in the car, completely ignoring Talia who looked ready to explode with curiosity.
"How was the rest of your date? Did you kiss? Was it good? You didn't have sex did you? Are you going on another date? Do you like him?" Talia cried, firing one question after another at a blank faced Sophie.
Sophie completely ignored her and turned her attention back to me as I begin driving to school, "Nate, I'm thinking of having a party this weekend. Do you want to come?"
