Lucifer(lucius) (ON HOLD)

chapter 4

Lucius's pov
I woke up just as I heard someone drawing the curtains and I forcefully opened my eyes and the sun rays hit my face and I kept my hand over my face to hide it from the sun. I saw Malia gazing outside the window.

     "Morning,"I greeted her. She came out of her trance and smiled brightly at me. "Oh, morning," she greeted back. "I hope you had a wonderful sleep."she continued. "Yes, thank you for everything I slept peacefully and did not get nightmares." I said.

     "What nightmares?"she retorted as  her eyebrows scrunched in confusion." Alonso did not tell me anything about nightmares,  he just said that you are his"

Before she could even finish what she was saying, the door opened and in came in Alonso. He looked at Malia before his eyes lingered on me.

"Breakfast is getting cold let's hurry," said Alonso. "What was taking you guys so long?"he continued.

    "Oh sheesh, can't I have a chat with Luc here?"she retorted rolling her eyes. I smiled at the new nickname she gave me, nobody has ever called me that. I could not help but like her more. Alonso just looked at her and pointed at the door. "Fine."huffed Malia and she gave me one of her bright smile and left.

    "Let's go," said Alonso. I nodded and followed him downstairs. We entered the dining room and the food was already laid on the table. The kids were already sitting there waiting patiently for us. I stood awkwardly until Maria gestured me to sit.

   "Luc, come sit I know yesterday you did not meet the kids. kids, this is Lucius."she said. The kids looked up from their meal and smiled at me. The girl was my age and the boys were twins and were  two years younger than me. The girl had black eyes and black hair and the boys had brown eyes and brown hair.

    "I am selene and they are Mark and Marcus." The girl said. I nodded and sat down. I picked up one pancake and started to munch it. It was delicious and I remembered my mom. I tried my best not to cry .

     "Alonso is a good friend of mine, but I never thought he was this kind to anyone,"Maria started up a conversation. Alonso glared at her as she giggled at him and rolled her eyes. Alonso kept quiet. Woh! I thought Alonso was her husband, how wrong I was.

      "My husband was a good husband but he had kicked the bucket six months ago so I was happy when you came with my friend because I realised I was not lonely anymore."

I felt pathetic and a burden to someone suddenly,  I lost my apetite and I stood ready to head upstairs.

     "Are you okay luc? Is something wrong with the food?"asked a worried Maria.

I started to feel guilty and I shook my head and I answered," No, I am fine am just not hungry and thanks for the food it was really delicious.

    "But you hardly ate anything, just have a few more bites."she said. I shook my head." Ok, but if you need anything feel free to ask."she added. I just nodded my head and climbed the stairs.

    "Mom, what is wrong with him?" I could hear selene asking. I entered my room and closed the door behind me. I sat on the bed and thought of how life took a bright turn and I could not be anymore thankful to God for all the kindness and love I was getting. There was a knock at the door and I muttered,"come in." In came in Alonso dressed in a suit.

      "Get ready, I am enrolling you in the same school as Selene,"he said. I got nervous  just at the thought of school but I nodded. I took a towel and walked inside the bathroom and quickly took a shower. I wrapped the towel around my thin body and I walked out. New fresh clothes were neatly folded and were kept on the bed. I quickly wore my clothes and then plodded down the stairs.

Everyone was ready and Maria came to me and gave me a blue backpack and I could not be more grateful and I hugged her. A week had not reached but she was already like a mother to me. She bid us farewell as we hopped in the black Nissan. I sat behind with the twins gazing outside. It looked quite busy as you could see people walking hustily to mind their own business. The scene outside was pleasing with free evergreen trees and tall buildings.

We then came to a halt and I got out of the car. In front of us stood a tall building,
Hlton high. I was very nervous and I was shaking. I was startled when Alonso patted my back.
       "Go with Selene,I already talked with the principal and have a nice day."he quickly said as he bid us and drove off.

       "Come on, we'll be late if we don't hurry," muttered Selene.

The twins went to their classes and I followed Selene. As we walked on the hallway, I could recall my previous school, the hell. We were given curious glances as headed to get my timetable. We were done and she took me to my chemistry class as she had math.

The classes had already started and I knocked on the door. I heard a gruff response,I stepped inside the class. Ther was a tall lady dressed in women suit with glasseson She tilted her big round glasses as she looked at me.

  "I suppose you are the new student," she said. I nodded. "Well, why don't you introduce yourself."

    "My names are Lucius Walker and I just moved in with my family"I responded.

"Ok, you can sit on the empty chair next to Martin, can you wave your hand Martin?"she asked with her heavy British accent.

I walked quietly to my sit as everyone looked at me. I prayed that this school will be nothing like the other one. I sat and was grateful that nothing so far had happened. No more bullies,but I knew better not to have my hopes high.

      "Hi!"Martin said to start up a conversation. He looked like a talkative person. I just waved my hand.

     "I see you don't like talking much,but it's cool."he added. The lessons were pretty good and everyone was kind but I made sure to remain quiet and see their true selves.  The time flew and it was time for lunch ,the students scrambled to the cafeteria and I just sulked in my seat as I was not hungry anymore.

      "Aren't you going for lunch,Lucius?"asked Martin. I shook my head. The door opened and in came in Selene.

     "Hi,Selene?"greeted Martin.

      "Hi,Mart" she greeted back as she looked at me. "We are going for lunch and you are coming."she said.

    "I am not hungry," I answered. "It doesn't matter, you hardly ate breakfast now get up!"she ordered and I obeyed. Martin stood there watching as his eyes held confusion. I don't know what we would tell him but I was sure that I would not talk about my past with anymore.

    We walked to the cafeteria and we sat at an empty table. I was surprised that there wre no bullies at all. Normally, in my previous school, new kids were given a 'treatment'. Selene brought me lunch and I tried my best to eat even if  it was a little bit, but I had no apetite at all.

    "The food is not for playing,"said Selene as she took a bite from her apple. The bell rang and I went back to my class. The time went by so fast and it was now home time. Alonso came to pick us up. We reached home,but Maria was not home,she was at a friend's house.

I climbed the stairs and entered my room. I love to be alone cause I am afraid that people will hate me. I stayed in my room flicking the tv from channel to channel making sure not to be idle. Indeed, an idle mind is the devil's workshop.
 
  I stayed in my room and only come out when it was time for dinner or to help Maria.
 
  "How was school,Luc?"asked Maria as we ate our supper. "I hope there was no trouble,"she continued.
 
  "No, all was good."  I answered. She nodded. We were done and everyone retired to bed as I stayed back to help clean up.

     "Don't you want to sleep Luc" asked Maria. "I just want to help,"I answered.

     "How sweet," she blurted. It was after a while when we finished what we were doing and retired to bed wishing each other good night.
