Littles can be very unclear when it comes to conversation. They might mumble or get words wrong. Don't punish them for this, it's just how they think of things. If you feel like a little is having trouble talking to you you can try the following:
Talk to them like a child. Simple, clear, small sentences work perfectly because they can understand what you're saying.
Ask them to speak up, they may be scared that you won't understand what they're trying to say and so won't say it loudly.
Ask them to use their "Big" words. Asking them to talk like an adult can help, but this normally isn't the best way to go about things.
Help them out. If they struggle with a word you might know, say it. It saves time and the little will be happy that you wanted to help them.
