Chapter 2 - I Like Candy

Granny and I were watching the show called "Friends" on her small television when the doorbell suddenly rang through the house.

"What day is it to day?" Granny asked.

"Saturday, why?" I said as I started to get up from the couch to answer the door.

"Oh well, then that must be Candy on the door." She beamed at me.

"Okay." I mumbled to myself as I left the living room and opened the front door, revealing a very beautiful brunette with shoulder length hair who looks right about my age.

"Hi, you must be Raine!" She exclaimed excitedly, giving me a brief hug which I awkwardly returned. "I haven't seen you for so long. It's like, what, eleven years? Wow that's long." She babbled.

I chuckled, amused by her talkativeness. "Yeah, it's good to be back in Florida." I grinned at her.

She gasped dramatically. "I forgot you were British. Woah, I love your accent. I suck at British accents." She stated.

I chuckled once again. "Good to know. Why don't you come in." I suggested. We both entered the living room to find it empty and no sign of granny. I suddenly got a whiff of croissant and hamburgers. "That smells delicious." I said as I headed to the kitchen with Candy following behind me. We entered to see granny pouring drinks into three glasses and three dishes filled with goodies.

"Woah granny G, these looks amazing!" Candy exclaimed with a huge grin as we all settled around the round table.

"Why thank you, dear." Granny did a little bow, making us laugh lightly before settling down too.

"I'm gonna make something special tomorrow since we have a new recruit." Candy nudged me with a cheeky grin.

We eagerly dug in on the food after saying grace and conversated animatedly. I found out a lot about Candy. Her parents got divorced when she was twelve and her twin brother lives with her father in Canada and every summer they switch places. Candy gets to stay in Canada while Ben gets to stay here in Florida. And during Christmas breaks, she and her brother gets to spend time together at their cabin house that is an hour away from here.

I kinda envy her a bit for having a complete happy family. Even though their parents splitted up, they all still managed to spend time together, except for their parents who are on good terms. I miss my parents.

After eating our delicious lunch, we all lounged in the living room, talking about random things.

"Well, I'm taking a nap." Granny announced. "I am getting old." I heard granny mumble as she headed upstairs.

"Sweet dreams, granny G." Candy hollered.

"And don't let the bed bugs bite." I added. "Oh bloody hell! I forgot to unpack my crap." I suddenly realize. I hate clutters and always wanted to get the job done and procrastinating isn't leading me anywhere. "Guess I gotta go unpack." I stood up with a huff.

"I wanna help!" Candy volunteered rather childishly.

I grinned widely at her. "Well aren't you an energetic ball." I wanted to act polite and kindly decline but hell, I need the help.

We both headed upstairs and started with my clothes. We worked for what felt like an eternity while chatting about random stuff. Turns out we had a lot in common. Granny was right, we do get along quite well. Glancing at the clock, it was already 4:48. That was fast. Candy arrived here around 12-ish.

"I'm exhausted!" She exclaimed, glancing at her wrist watch. "Well, I better get home. It was nice seeing you again, Raine." I thanked her and told her I had fun hanging out with her and left to her home just right across the street. I like Candy. We'll definitely get along really well.
