Episode 3: Five's a Killer

Vigilante turned mass murderer? Our misunderstood hero didn't target a killer this time, he targeted the sheriff. Sheriff Acosta was stabbed twice with a pizza cutter of all things. According to today's news report, the only thing missing from his house was Kristen Lang's unfinished manuscript The Madness of Two.

These murders are not random. Our new killer likely murdered the sheriff because he read Ms. Lang's manuscript. Did she write about something she shouldn't have? Or is there another accomplice in play? Another accomplice would explain the Sheriff's death. One killer is determined to get rid those involved in the ghost face murders while another is killing to protect his secret.

If there isn't an accomplice, is there another member of the James family involved? Is it revenge for Brandon? Or Piper? Do all mass murders in Lakewood lead back to Brandon James?

I'm Noah Foster, providing you with unending possibilities at The Morgue.

Maggie was the last on the force to arrive at the crime scene. She apologized as she made her way in the house and immediately started examining the Sheriff's body.

"How can someone do this?" One of the officers asked, "Why the Sheriff?"

"I don't know," Maggie lied, "But I don't think our killer is a stranger."

"What makes you say that?" the officer replied.

"Look at this," Maggie said pointing to the large opening in the Sheriff's back. "This killer pulled the pizza cutter down the Sheriff's back after he stabbed him. It's overkill. And Miguel had his gun out; that's why it's lying on the floor."

"If he had his gun, why didn't he shoot?"

"I know Miguel. The only time he would refuse to shoot is if it was someone he knew. If this was a stranger, he would not have hesitated to fight back. Instead, he stands there and drops his gun."

"You're saying the killer we're looking for is someone he knew?"

"It makes sense," Another officer chimed in. "The killer also took Kristen Lang's manuscript. I bet Sheriff read something our killer didn't want anyone to know."

Maggie replied, "He figured it out."

As the officers looked around for more evidence, Maggie could not help but think Brandon might have something to do with this. It could not be a coincidence that he appeared in town while this started; if it was him at all.

Audrey stayed at the hospital all night. Since Emma intended to stay at Audrey's, she stayed with Audrey at the hospital. When morning approached, she went to Audrey's house to get a change of clothes and bring them back. In an attempt to cheer her up, she also brought coffee and Audrey's favorite camera.

"You didn't have to," Audrey said as she took the coffee and tried to hide her smile.

Emma dropped the bag of clothes at her feet and sat next to Audrey. She took a sip of her coffee and put the camera on Audrey's lap.
