2. The Hogwarts Express

Elaphe (Ela) Moid

By the time it came around for us to board the train at king cross we alrealdy finished reading all of our course books and were halfway through our personal books.

We entered platform nine and three quarters through the floo. Apon arriving we saw a few people we knew to avoid. As I scanned the crowd I found the boy with black hair and worn robes by him was a girl with red hair but not Weasley red. I knew right away she was muggleborn. She didn't bother to hide her awe like a most pure and halfbloods. It was quite easy to pick out the muggleborns.

"Hey Ela,-" Fred started.

"Isn't that the boy-" George continued.

"That we promised to become friends with?" They finished together.

"Yes." I said simply. We loaded everything onto the train. We hugged our mother and father, for Oxy her aunt and uncle, and for the twins their own parents, who saw us off.

I knew the boy was already on the train. "Ela can't we just find a random compartment? I thought I saw potter and black a few compartments back." Leo said. He knew that potter was a pureblood and black might understand the dark arts. I wasn't so sure. I heard rumours that the eldest black didn't follow his parents ideals.

"Leo you know this is important to me." I said. "Finally." I said as I saw the black and red hair.

"Hey can we sit here?" Me and Oxy asked together. Leo may have been my brother but Oxy and I we lead the group. The Twins and Leo always had our back though.

"Yeah we have room." The red head girl said.

"Elaphe Moid. This is my brother Leo Moid and my cousin Oxy Moid. These are our best friends-"

"Fred and George Weasley at your service." They said in unison. Oxy, Leo and I all rolled our eyes. I think I saw the black haired kid did too.

"I'm Lily Evans and this is Severus Snape."

"Hey- oh I see this compartment is full. I'm James Potter why don't you girls leave this greasy git and sit with us." Potter said. Black laughed that horrible laugh I knew that I would hate instantly.

"Why Potter this is probably why my mother never let you near us." I said. I shared a look with the Twins and we knew who would be the victims of our pranks already. Black looked like he would get violent knowing him he was close. Potter was red face. Someone ended up dragging them away.

"Sorry about him. I swear not all purebloods are complete idiots." I said breaking the silence that we fell into uncomfortablely.

"What house do you expect to be in? I'm hoping to be in Slytherin with Sev." All of us knew that she wasn't going to be in Slytherin as she was muggleborn.

"Well I will be in Slytherin for sure no one in the family thinks otherwise. I will be the first in a long time to be in Slytherin." I said although I really didn't really care. I said it because I saw the way Severus seemed to shrink when Lily said she would be in Slytherin.

"We'll we are going into Gryffindor." Said the twins with a mischievous smile.

"We are undetermined there is a lot of debate so we will see which house we end up in." Said Oxy.

"We'll be friends no matter what house we end up in, right Sev?" Lily said. She was biting her lip.

"Yes." He said.

"Well me and the twins and my sisters promised each other we would always be together even when we know we won't be in the same house." Said Leo. I smiled at him.

"May I use your first name?" I asked Snape.

"You can call him Sev." It seemed as every time she used that name he would cringe.

"I appreciate you speaking for him but I asked him so please let him answer. He isn't incompetent." I turned back to him. "Would you allow me to use Severus or would you perfer I call you Snape?" I asked again

"Severus is acceptable." He said. I smiled at him.

"Well since I can use your first name I will allow you to use my first name. You may call me Elaphe or Ela. I hope that we can become friends I look over to getting to know you." I said with a sincere smile.

"We all hope to get to now you too Severus. I mean if it's okay to use your first name? It is up to you what ever you are comfortable with." Said Oxy as the other three nodded in agreement.

"Severus is acceptable." He said again. I noticed that Lily was scowling. Did she really expect him not to make friends?

"You guys won't be mad if I made other friends right? I mean in my own house?" I asked. In a way I was trying to show Lily that she was wrong to keep Severus from making friends.

"Of course we won't. You know we will make our own friends in our own houses. You wouldn't be mad of we did that would you?" The twins said as they quickly caught on to what I was doing.

"Of course it's only natural for you to make your own friends in your own house." I said everyone agreed. "I mean if I can I don't see why you can't. We will be friends until the end."

As the train stoped Lily ran out of the compartment. The five of us frowned and Severus looked scared.

"Well from today forward I declare that the six of us will be name The Phantoms. We will run this school by the time we graduate." Said the twins in unison as always.

"Six?" Severus asked unsure.

"Yes, six. We decided to adopt you into the family, Severus, if you have nothing against that." Leo said.

"And don't worry about Lily she will come around. But no matter what you'll have us." I said. I wanted him to know that he had friends who had his back. He didn't have to worry.

"You don't have to do that." He said quietly. We almost didn't hear him.

"No Severus we didn't have to do anything. We wanted to. Actually Ela here saw you in diagon alley and she declared that we would find you and get to know you." Leo said. I saw his frown deepen.

"So it was pity then." He said with a glare toward us.

"No it wasn't pity. Something about you drew me in I'm glad I found you again. You are one of us Severus." I said in a way that broke no arguments. The others nodded. Severus sill looked distrustful but I knew it wouldn't be easy.

"We better get going." Severus said. We knew that this conversation wasn't over but we knew it was worth it.
