3. The Sorting Hat

Elaphe (Ela) Moid

"First years this way. First years." We heard someone shouting. We followed him to what seemed to be boats. "Four to a boat come on now." I looked at others seeing how we would do this. The twins decided on their own to sit in a diffrent boat then us.

"Come on Severus you can ride with us. The twins will be fine they are probably up to something knowing them." Oxy said. He rolled his eyes but he didn't disagree. Oxy, Leo, Severus, and I all climbed into a boat. Lily I noticed was already making new female friends. It upset me how she seemed to abandon Severus over something that she didn't like.

"Watch your heads." Shouted the staff member as we were mostly across the lake. I smiled at Severus.

"Hey don't worry too much she'll come around although I don't really know what upset her. You and I though we'll be in Slytherin together for sure and we well be friends no matter what. Real friends stay through everything." I said. He seemed to relax a little when I said that.

We got to the dock and got out. Up the stairs to the great hall. "Welcome to Hogwarts, I am professor Mcgonagall, the start of the term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. Your houses will be like your family, you will have class with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room. Your triumphs will win you house points and any rule breaking will lose you point." She looked at the twins and Potter and Black. She doesn't know how this school will be run by a prank war.

She left into the great hall to see if they were ready for us to be sorted. While we waited we saw some ghosts I smiled a little as I saw one named peeves I looked at the twins we knew we had to get peeves on our side before Potter or Black did.

The muggleborns we're super frightened. Severus seemed to be frightened a little bit too. I put my hand on his shoulder to show him support. He startled pretty badly. He looked at me and I just smiled. I'm pretty sure Oxy saw him startle as bad as I did. Oxy amd I shared a look that said we will never leave him alone. I removed my hand as I could see it was making him uncomfortable.

"Follow me." Said professor Mcgonagall. We followed her up to what was a dusty hat. I knew it was the sorting hat it was what was going to put us into our houses. We all got into a line. "When I call your name I'll put the hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses."

"Black, Sirius" he walked up there with all the confidence of a pureblood but without all the Grace.

"Gryffindor." The hat shouted. Many were surprised as he was a family of Slytherins.

"Evans, Lily" was the next name we really paid attention too.

"Gryffindor."

"Lupin, Remus" after awhile was called.

"Gryffindor"

"Moid, Leo" this time the hat seemed to take longer then the others

"Gryffindor" it shouted. I knew that was where he was going to be.

"Moid, Oxy" I gave her hand a squeeze. She was my sister no matter where she was.

"Slytherin" her face seemed to relax at that. Maybe she was worried about being the only one in Ravenclaw.

"Moid, Elaphe" I walked up with all the confidence and grace of a pureblood. I knew where I was going. I wasn't worried.

"Slytherin" it said before it could touch my head. I gave a wink to Severus as I walked over to the Slytherin table. I left a spot between Oxy and myself for Severus.

"Pedigrew, Peter" I have no idea why he stood out.

"Gryffindor" really he is a gryffindor he looks to be afraid of his own shadow.

"Potter, James"

"Gryffindor" it shouted before it was even on his head

"Snape, Severus" he looked scared. I knew it was because Lily was in Gryffindor. He didn't want her to hate him.

"Slytherin" it shouted I cheered the loudest along with the twins, Leo, and Oxy. Even though the first three were Gryffindors.

"Why did you five cheer so loud for me." Severus asked when he sat down between Oxy and myself.

"We wanted to show you our support. The boys were saying in their own way that they are with you no matter what house you end up in. The same for us. We are glad you are in Slytherin with us." I said.

"Fred Weasely"

"Gryffindor"

"George Weasely"

"Gryffindor" they hugged each other I think they were afraid to be separated. They were practically one person I don't know what being sorted into different houses do to them.

Once everyone sat down headmaster Dumbledore gave announcements and then the meal appeared.

"So Severus, what class are you looking forward to the most?" Oxy asked. I smiled at that.

"Potions." He answered simply. I gave a huge grin.

"Well I'm also looking forward to potions the most. My mother runs an apocathery out of our home." I said. The rest of the meal was mostly mindless chatter. Us girls getting to know Severus and Severus getting to know us in return.

"Aunt Rose is wonderful at potions and healing but Leo is more into healing then Ela is." Oxy said.

"Sorry If I perfer how to protect myself and others I care about versus how to heal others." I said. Oxy rolls her eyes. Severus looks to be uncomfortable.

"Perfects, please lead the first years to there dormitories." Headmaster Dumbledore announces.

"How much do you want to bet he will be house bias. He will probably hate us for being Slytherin." I said. Oxy just nods a little. We follow our house perfect to the dungeons.

"Look Ela you will be perfectly comfortable here it's dark and cold. Maybe now you won't complain so much when we are at home durring the summer." Oxy said.
