Back at home
"What happened the day I was taken?" The girl asked her parents. The sadness and horror came across the mother's face as the memories rushed through her. "Umm....maybe that story can wait until another day." The father said trying stall knowing the events of that day would upset his wife. "No dear she has a right to know so I'll tell her," the mother said softly. "If you are sure but if you can't you don't have to at least not yet." The father said whilst hugging his wife comfortingly. "So on the day you were taken from us, I had just got back from the hospital. I was having a scan." "A scan for what?" The girl said sweetly. "A scan to check on the baby in my tummy, we were expecting a baby and they were checking if it was ok. But when they did the scan they couldn't find a heartbeat. Which meant that the baby had passed away." She paused as small tears started to run down her face. "And your father was at work and you were at school so I had nothing to do and I ended up crying to myself. But when you and your father got back, you went upstairs to play whilst your father looked for me. When he found me I need not look I knew it was him, we sat on the floor for hours. Your father didn't even know until I finally stopped crying. And before he could react we heard you screaming." Each word was accompanied by a small sniffle and tears. "At first we were confused but they we rushed to catch up but we were to late the car had already disappeared we had no idea where it went." At this point the mother was in tears.
"I think you should stop I can tell the rest, you go freshen up." The father interrupted, for he couldn't bear watch his wife cry. The mother exited the room and the father continued, "We went to the police to report it and they were helpful for a while but a year into looking for you they gave up and said they couldn't help us any more and that we should just give. They told us it would be impossible to find you. But we didn't stop searching for you." He said passionately. "But now we don't need to worry now. We won't ever let you out of our sight again," he said as the mother came back in and in unison they both said, "We promise." They all hugged each other before going to bed.
