Chapter One: Something New
"Go make friends! You need to not be anti-social." My mother said, entering my room. "Don't be one of those anti-social weirdos. It's not good for you."
"Moommmm. I already told you. I'm not anti-social. I get social anxiety." I replied with a frown. She sighed and shook her head. "I can make friends. It just can't be face to face." She sighed once again.
"Then get a penpal." She said, handing me my laptop. She walked out of the room as I sat and thought about it. That's not a bad idea...
I opened my laptop and unlocked it. I opened Google and looked up "penpal". There were many different websites, so I just opened the first two and started creating a account on the one that looked more promising.
"Name, Blair" I muttered to myself. "Birthday.. March 9, 1997... Location... California..." I quickly finished signing up and looked around the site. I looked at people in California, and saw a profile this one girl from San Fransico named Isabella. "Hmmm.. SF and LA ... meh why not." I thought to myself. I looked at her profile and saw that we had similar intrests. I quickly sent her a email through the website, telling her who I am and what I like.
'Hi Isabella! My name is Blair and I live in LA. I love dancing and singing. I really love listening to music! I'm horrible at making friends (social anixety). Please write back and tell me about yourself!' I wrote.
"Who else can I try to make friends with..." I muttered to myself and decided to look at people from Australia. I clicked around until I accidently open some dude's page. "Thomas... from Australia..." I muttered. He didn't have a profile picture, but it said he was interested in music and singing. "Interesting.."
'Hi Thomas! My name is Blair and I live in Los Angeles, California. I love dancing and singing. I really love listening to music! I'm horrible at making friends (social anixety). It's be great to know someone from a different country!' I quickly sent the email to him and smiled to myself.
"That was productive." I said to myself.
I opened a new tab and pulled up Netflix. I logged in using my dad's account and looked for something new to watch. 'Arrow sounds like a cool show...' I thought to myself, and looked at my recurve bow and my takedown recurve bow , which was currently in it's case, and my purple arrows. 'Haven't been to the range for a couple days.." I thought again. It's been 4 days since I've been to the range...
"MOMM! I'M GOING TO THE RANGE!" I shouted downstairs. I grabbed my Samick Sage takedown bow, my quiver with 12 arrows, my arm guard, my bow stringer, and my archery glove. I ran downstairs and said bye to my mom and dad. I grabbed my mom's BMW keys off our key rack and opened the garage. I drove to the nearest range and paid for a hour session. I set up my bow and put on my glove and arm guard, and got into my assigned lane.
I put on my back quiver, and nocked my arrow. Breathing in, I drew the string back and aimed it a couple rings below the center ring. I released my breath, and the string. I held my place until the arrow hit it's mark. I didn't quite hit bullseye, but it was close. After shooting my dozen arrows, the range was cleared to collect our arrows. I quickly took a picture of my grouping and pulled my arrows.
*******
The hour was done in no time, so I quickly took down my bow and put it back in it's case. I took off my arm guard and glove and also put it in the case. I took off my quiver, and closed up my bow case. I left the ranged and put my stuuf in the trunk and left for home.
When I got home, I put my archery stuff back in my room and pulled out my phone. I opened up my photos app and looked through my grouping pictures. Just then, I got a notifaction from my email that I have a message from the penpal site. 'Hmmm...' I thought to myself.
