It's a dark, quiet, autumn night in Blackcrest. Everyone in the small town is fast asleep. I am home with my parents, my brother, and two sisters. It's about 12:30 a.m. and I still haven't fallen asleep. I'm in my room listening to my radio. As I'm singing along to the song, I see bright green lights outside my window flashing across the night sky. Suddenly I hear a very loud "BOOM!" I'm frightened. 'Didn't anyone hear that noise?' The floor boards start creaking. The footsteps get louder and heavier. 'Is that dad or Bellamy?' I slowly open my door to check but instead of seeing human figures, I see about ten flay, one-eyed creatures that are almost six feet tall with gigantic heads, eight tentacles for legs, and four for arms. One of them see me staring at them and points me out to the rest. 'Crap, they see me.' I rush to lock my door. The footsteps are coming closer to my room. I hear a low mumbling, but I can't understand. They're banging on the door and I begin panicking. "BOOM BOOM BOOM!" Now there's a crack in my door. 'Shit!' I run in the corner and hide in my closet, watching those creatures sunder my door. There's a loud thud. My door is down and broken into large pieces. They come in making a huge mess of my things, tentacles flying everywhere. After not finding what they were looking for, they begin to leave the room. One of the creatures eyes the closet door as it's leaving. I come out the closet and look around the room that looks like a tornado went through it. 'Where the hell is Bellamy? He had to hear everything.' I step over what is left of my door and go into the hallway looking to see if those creatures were there. They weren't. 'Strange.' I walk to the room next to mine. The door is closed and the light is on. 'He's awake.' I open Bellamy's door only to find an empty room. "What the hell?" I ask out loud. "Kait. . ." says a small scared voice. I turn around to find one of my ten year old sisters, Thea. She looks terrified and her face is wet from her tears. "They're gone." Thea says.
