I found something, an old rusty screw driver! I was rushing backwards towards the door when I accidentally kicked it. I rolled and stopped just under Joanna's chest of draws. I looked up to see where Joanna was and by hell she was close and getting even closer. I kept backing up into the wall and I bent down and grabbed the screw driver. Joanna lurched at me down on the ground and I grabbed the screw driver just in time. I lifted my arm from under the chest of draws and drove the screw driver right through Joanna's pale, grey eye. Her body went limp and she fell to the ground with half of her body on top of mine. I rolled her up and inspected her pretty messed up face.

I started lightly sobbing. I kept telling my self that I had no choice and that I had to put her down. For my sake and for Tate's. If I hadn't anything could've happened. I sat down on her bed and thought about what had happened. I heard a creak and out the corner of my eye I saw Joanna's bathroom door open I crack. I had the rusty screw driver at the ready all though I wasn't ready to put down another one of those things. A little girl ran out. Just older than Tate, maybe by a year or two. She came running over to me.

She pulled me into a big bear hug and I hugged her back. She was also crying. She managed to say a thankyou in between her quieting sobs.  She seemed so shaken up. We sat there for a while with me rubbing circles on her back and her embracing me in a hug.

"Did you get bit?" She asked after a while.

" No" I said. "Did you?" I asked just thinking of the safety of Tate and I.

"No" She answered. " Was she bit?" She asked pointing over at Joanna's lifeless and pale body.

I didn't actually know weather she was bit or not. I pulled away from the young girl. (I still didn't know her name. We hadn't gotten around to that part yet.) And went over to inspect Joanna's slumped body. I searched all her visible skin but couldn't find any sign of any bites or scratches. I got back up and went back over to the young girl sitting on Joanna's bed. "No" I said puzzled. She just looked at me. I changed the subject and got to know this young girl.

Her name was Molly. She was 12 and had survived through all the shit in the past 72 hours all by her self. We shared our stories and then I took her down stairs and let her sleep on the couch where I was sleeping. I tucked her in and told her I'd be right over there and pointed to where little Tate was sleeping. I thought I'd introduce them in the morning. I flicked the lantern off and quietly walked over to where Tate was sleeping and got under the thin blanket and tried to fall asleep next to him.

I dozed off quite a few times but kept being awoken by horrible flashbacks of all the things that have happened since the first morning. Flash backs off my dad and Joanna. I tried to go back to sleep but had no hope. I got out of bed and walked over to the gap in the boarded up windows and took a look outside. Most of the rotting dead had cleared except for a few lonely wanderers. The sun was nearly up so I assumed it was about dawn. I knew Tate wouldn't be up for another hour of so but I wasn't sure about Molly so I took a quick walk up stairs and into Joanna's room. Her body was still slumped next to her chest of draws. I pulled the lightest blanket off of her bed and placed it calmly over the top of her now freezing body. I took a quick look around and found a book lying on her bedside table. I didn't think it would hurt so I picked it up and headed down stairs to bide by some time.

I read what seemed like a really good book for about an hour and a half when I started to hear someone stirring and waking up. It was Tate. He woke up, rubbed the sleep from his eyes and then came running over to me. I embraced him in a big bear hug and asked him how he slept. He noticed Molly sleeping peacefully on the couch. He pointed at her and asked who she was. I told him everything except for the gory details about Joanna. He nodded and asked for some breakfast.

I searched Joanna's cupboards and found some Lucky Charms and a splash of milk that wasn't off yet. I poured a bowl for Tate and a bowl for me. We were starting to eat when we heard Molly wake up. She saw us and walked over and said good morning and poured herself a bowl swell. I introduced her and Tate and they got along pretty well.

After breakfast we found a bag for molly and stocked as much as they would hold n all of them. We grabbed food, ammo, a small revolver, some food rations and some extra knives. We sat at the table and made a quick game plan of what we were going to do. We decided to search some houses and then see where we ended up. We got ready and went to the door to brave the new outside world.

I opened the door and saw only a few mangled dead walking the streets. We thought they wouldn't notice us but then they all started coming at once. At least there were only four of them.

Hey guys what do you think? Its pretty crappy but I'm trying here. I'm trying to speed it up and keep it interesting. It will get better I promise!!

Please read vote comment and follow me and later I will start a Magcon book so stay tuned.
