A week has passed. I'm staying at Daniel's place because we decided it's going to be better for him and for me as well, since we are dating, and also because he is just still not really ok so I take care of him. He is laying on the couch all day watching movies and Netflix tv shows. Yesterday, he did nothing else than talking about some Netflix show about politicians and mobsters. I really wanted to ask him what was the thing they did last week and the reason he got shot, but on the other side, I wish that last week just didn't happen and we decided to not talk about it.

"Who are you texting with?" Daniel asked curiously and annoyed that I am not paying attention to what he is saying. I noticed his iPad he used to watch Netflix with died so now he was just looking at me. I was sitting on a comfy armchair next to him.

"Nina. By the way, is it okay if some people come over? At least we will have some fun, no?" I asked with Nina's chat opened in case Daniel would disagree.

I covered his face with his hands for a few seconds and replied only short "ok".

"Hey, what's up with you? You seem so weird last week. Since the thing happened." I could feel my heart beating way faster. I had no idea how he might react.

He looked at me in a way that made me more nervous. "I'm sorry that I act weird but I kinda got shot and I kinda cannot move without feeling the stupid pain in my stomach." His tone he was talking to me in was so mean.

"Daniel. I didn't shoot you. And I'm trying to help you!" I said. It sounded way more mean than I wanted to.

"Could you please stop with this?! I didn't shoot myself either!" I know this mood he has now. If he could, he would leave. Instead of that he just grabbed his phone and pretend to check something on Instagram.

"I'm sorry Daniel, but I'm trying my best and I just don't know what to do. You didn't even tell me what happened that night. I was so scared something will happen to you! And see? You almost died!" I said, but he was probably not listening.

"You didn't ask what happened." he rumbled, turned off his phone, tried to sit down and drank coffee I made him an hour ago. It must've been cold and disgusting, but he kept drinking.

"I di-" I didn't have time to finish the sentence, because of the doorbell. It must be Nina and some people she invited. They were too fast!

I gave Daniel the don't-act-like-this-when-they-are-here look and went to open the door.

"Hey babygirl!" Nina yelled when she saw me and gave me a big fat hug - the one she always gives me when she want to show me she supports me. She invited Claire, Phoebe, Joseph and Charles. With these people I feel awesome and I was glad she invited them.

"Daniel is in the living room, kinda acting weird slash mad but he's gonna be okay so just act normal." I informed them before we got to the living room. I brought chips and when I was making popcorn, Nina came to the kitchen.

"I'm so proud of you, India." she said and a bit reminded me of my mother when I graduated.

"Thank you...?" I smiled, didn't know what exactly she means.

"I mean, Daniel is really a savage and mean sometimes, but he is not serious in situations like that. He just... I don't know what is he trying to reach by that but he loves you so much and I'm happy you know that. And I also want to show you something."

She pulled her phone from her back, opened WhatsApp and some chat. Then she found the right date and gave it to me.

"That was the night he got shot." she whispered and started to play with wine glass I forgot to but in the dishwasher.

I couldn't believe what I just read. He wanted to propose??!! But why is he so mean right now?

"But why is he acting like I annoy him?"
I gave Nina back her phone and opened the microwave door, because the popcorn almost burned.

"I don't know what's his problem! But please, pretend you don't know anything otherwise he will kill me."

"Sure. But I don't know what to do."

When I said that, I heard Daniel's, Charles's and Joseph's laugh. Something must've been very funny, because Daniel has not laughed in seven days.

We exchanged looks with Nina and went back to the living room with a bowl full of popcorn acting like everything is perfect.
