We as a generation are constantly convincing ourselves that 'we do not care'.
You don't like the kind of person I am, who cares!
Not approving of the way I look, who cares!
I love who and how I am
And I'm not going to change just because of you.If only any of the above were true.
If only you actually meant that.Don't get me wrong, I know you want it to be true,
The desperation with which you try is proof.
But love, I'd almost believe you
If it weren't for the filtered updates on your social media profile,
Seeking nothing but validation
From a bunch of strangers.
I'd almost believe you
If you didn't spend a good ten minutes
Deciding.. 'Valencia or Reyes? Is the contrast enough?'
'What if I put up the wrong one and my likes reduce?'
I almost believed you.I'm not blaming you.
The generation is programmed this way.
Our worlds are dominated by social media.
You might be a creep but if you're a social media hit,
So what, right? 'Aren't we all creeps anyway.'I'm not promoting a 'Devil may care' scenario.
I'm just placing a mirror in front of you
And asking you to fall in love with the person there.
In love with who they are, in love with
All the stars outlined on their body. You are so much more than
Filters, Likes, Comments.
Know that and embrace it.- Harshal Bathija
@anotsobeautifulchaosHello there :) This is just a small reminder that we aren't the filters we put on. And the people who know you for who and what you are and love you anyway are the ones to be valued and held onto.
Much love and happiness! <3
