Annabeth had been nagging him to go shopping with her for new clothes ever since the war ended, and now years later everything was mostly peaceful, with the exception of a few stray monsters here and there. which wasn't anything the other demigods couldn't handle. This meant that Percy could no longer find excuses to avoid shopping, as much as he loved Annabeth, he just really hated shopping. The trying on clothes, waiting in lines, all the people around them... it's just too much for him to handle with his ADHD and all.

He finally relented when his last pair of jeans got ripped when he was fighting a monster during a small quest and realized that he actually did need new clothes. Annabeth took advantage of the peace and Percy's lack of excuses to finally go shopping in New York for new clothes (much to Percy's disappointment but he agreed because he loves her).

Hours dragged on as they went from store to store trying on enough clothes to last them for a lifetime (or so Percy thinks). Dragged down by their purchases, they decided to get rid of some of their shopping bags via mist-mail. They quickly scurried to a dark alley, so as to not raise suspicion as their bags magically deposited themselves into Percy's cabin in Camp Half-blood.

Percy squirted some water from a water bottle in his bag and made some mist while Annabeth inserted a drachma and said "camp half-blood, cabin 3". Just as they put the last bag through the mist and were about to leave Annabeth heard something strange behind them in the alley.

"Be careful, Clary! Behind you!"

"I've got it, Jace, you take the other 2." the girl responded.

Annabeth looked around to see where the voices were coming from to see a girl with hair as red as Rachel Elizabeth Dare's, fighting a sort of monster that squirted black ichor where the boy slashed it with his sword. The boy with blond hair and gold eyes rolled his eyes at the girl and kept fighting the monster.

"Come on Annabeth let's go help them." Percy insisted as he tugged her towards another group of the same type of monster they were already fighting that was approaching the unsuspecting duo.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? We don't even know what kind of monster they are!" She tried to reason as they approached them. But it was too late Percy was already uncapped Riptide and was charging into battle as he always does without a solid plan.

"Every. Single. Time. What a Seaweed Brain he is. It's fine though I have a plan," Annabeth muttered to herself as she pulled out her sword and dagger, "Now all I need is to spread the monsters out enough to be able to tackle them all without overwhelming ourselves."

Joining into the fray, Annabeth recounted her plan to Percy who nodded his head in agreement and kept fighting. The duo who had already been fighting hadn't noticed them yet as they were still trying to defeat the original group. But the number was slowly dwindling and Annabeth would have to explain soon who they were to the strangers. their swords weren't doing as much damage as the shiny, curved swords that the others were using, but with enough persistence, they did defeat them.

Not even 3 minutes later the two groups collided as they were pushed backwards by the never-ending monsters coming in from all sides.

"Oof! Jace? was that you I just bumped into?" The redhead asked, not taking her eyes off of her personal battle.

"No, I'm all the way over here. Where are you?" He yelled from where he was battling a particularly large one.

"Then who did I just bump into?"

"Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. These monsters are different than we're used to." Percy responded sheepishly, hoping to not scare her away or lose her focus.

Spinning around, the redhead looks in shock at Percy and Annabeth fighting alongside them and had to dodge a swipe at her neck when she wasn't looking.

"You can see the demons? Are you guys even shadowhunters, you don't have any runes or anything. You know what it doesn't actually matter-" she turns back to kill the demon behind her, "as long as you keep fighting."

By the time they finish killing the last demon the two shadowhunters had a lot of questions for them.

"First of all, thank you for helping; but more importantly who are you, how can you see the demons and know how to fight? And I expect answers from you two."

"I'm Annabeth and this is my boyfriend Percy, we're not shadow whatever you called yourselves, first of all, we had no idea those were demons, but we usually fight monsters that are somewhat similar, hence why we know how to fight. I-" Annabeth explains before she gets interrupted by Percy who felt the need to interject that, "You can't just demand answers from us when for all we know you two could be working for Ga-" He quickly shut his mouth and turned away, looking hard at the ground and gasping for air.

"We are going to go now, but here is my email address and phone number," Annabeth said, scribbling down her contact information on a paper, "if you ever need help again. I'm going to take him away now, goodbye."

And with that the two demigods rushed away without a trace leaving the two shadowhunters shocked and confused at these strange people who had swooped in to save their lives and just as quickly left. Jace stared down at the paper in his hand and looked up again to where they had disappeared, he shook his head and guided Clary back towards the Institute to tell the others of what had happened.
