The stroke of Robin.

Chapter Four.

P.O.V of Robin.

I hated weekdays, especially when I didn't get a whole weekend with Slade.  I entered the mountain to see the team all gathered in the kitchen. I went over to them and sat on the counter.
"Dude, what did you do to your arm?" Wally asked.
"I broke it out on patrol." I lied, in truth it was Batman's anger for finding them in his room, but I wasn't going to tell them that, "Anyway, I came to get Artemis. Batman said something about school and if you don't hurry up you'll be late."
"Damn," She cursed, "I forgot that I don't get a break there. Thanks Rob." And she left.
Anyway, see you guys around." I said and also left for school.
I changed into my uniform, leaving one arm of the blazer so that I could work with the sling, at least I was ambidextrous. I walked into Gotham Academy at the same time Artemis sprinted in. I was so busy laughing at her that I walked right into Jim, my least favourite pupil.
"Watch where you're going gypsy." He sneered.
I went to go around him but he pulled my back by the scruff of my neck, "Where'd you think you're going Gypsy." He laughed as he noticed my arm, "What happened? Did it hurt? Oh no, my poor son." He said mockingly, "Does this hurt as much?" He said and grabbed the broken part of my arm and squeezed, I let at a whimper at the pain, "Awwww, am I hurting you?" He squeezed harder and I screamed.
Then the pressure was gone, just an echo of the pain left, "Did that hurt?" I heard Artemis say and looked over from where I was on the floor to see she had thrown him across the courtyard, "Now leave him alone unless you wish for the same treatment."
"You're going to regret that bitch." Jim spat as he got up and left.
"You okay?" Artemis asked as she helped me up.
"Yeah, " I replied, letting my Romani accent slip a bit as I always did when I was being Dick Grayson, "Thank you."
"No problem," She said as we walked off to first class, "You are in my math class right?"
"Yeah, too smart for my own good they say." I chuckled.
"Well, if you need anything, the name's Artemis." She said as we entered the classroom a couple minutes early.
"I'm Dick." I said, "And thank you again."
"No problem." She said as we took our seats, I was one in front of her.This was going to be a long day.

It was a long day and I was relieved when the final bell rang and it was time to go home, even if that meant facing Bruce. I waited outside the gates for Alfred, when he didn't arrive after 5 minutes I figured Bruce had asked him to make me walk as punishment before the beating I got when I got home.
"Hey, Dick. You look lost." Artemis called.
"No, I'm fine." I lied, "Just guess Alfred's ill."
"You want me to walk with you?" Artemis said, "Actually better idea. I know some people, like really cool people and they've actually wanted to meet you."
"Who?" I asked, knowing full well who she was talking about.
"You know the young Justice, I know the speedster. And he's always wanted to meet the famous Dick Grayson." She said, "Wanna come with me to see them."
I thought about it a moment, Bruce couldn't beat me any worse than he was going to anyway, and I could always go to Slade if I really needed to, "Sure."
"Follow me." She said and we walked to the nearest Zeta tube.
Whilst she wasn't looking I quickly programmed it to introduce me as a guest rather than Robin, that could get emotional. Then we were walking out to the sound of her name and a guest.
"Who's the guest?" KF called from where he was snacking on the couch.
I put an impressed look on my face, as if this was knew and I was a normal kid.
"Someone you've been wanting to meet." Artemis said as miss M entered the room and squealed.
I stepped back in fake fear as she came over, "Oh, I'm sorry." She said, "I'm not going to hurt you."
I gave a tentative nod and she walked over slowly, "My name's Megan." She said, "And you must be Richard Grayson."
At that Wally came flashing over and I had to jump back to avoid looking to confident around him.
"KF," Artemis tutted then turned to me, "Sorry he can get over exited sometimes."
"Hi, I'm Fid Klash." He said, "No, sorry Kid Flash."
"Dick Grayson." I said unsurely holding out my hand to shake.
"Well Master Grayson." Artemis said, "Let's have some fun."

I didn't know how late I was at the cave until the Zeta beams announced Batman's arrival. I instantly tensed up and the team thought it was because I had never met him before and knew him as the brooding and skilled vigilante.
"Has anyone seen Robin?" He asked, than he caught my eye.
I shrunk back further, "Batman, meet Richard Grayson." Aqualad said as he stood up.
Batman came over to me and held out his hand and we shook, "Nice to meet you. Do you know how late you are?"
"No." I replied honestly.
"Well, your school finished 4 hours ago." Batman said.
That meant it was 8 already, "I've got to go. Bye." I said and ran to the Zeta beams, thankfully they were still identifying me as a guest rather than Robin.
A few second after I entered the Batcave Batman followed and shoved me into the floor hard, "What did you think you were doing?" He asked.
"Artemis said to go, I couldn't refuse her." I said as he lifted me from the floor so that my collar was strangling me.
"Next time, you do refuse Gypsy, understood?" He growled.
"Yes sir." I got out.
He dropped my back on the floor and it twisted to avoid landing on my broken arm, "Now go and clean the kitchen, Alfred could do with another break."
I scuttled out of the room, Alfred had so many breaks these day's he was basically paid to lounge. But I couldn't argue.
