Amy Jackson
Alex just barges into the dance studio without even knocking. As we enter you can hear the discrete noise of the translucent glass door shutting and succeedingly breaking the quiet atmosphere of the hall. As I look around I come to know that there is no one here except me and Alex and I tense.
"Why did you want to see me?" I question but my voice comes out stronger than I thought to show a hint of anger and frustration.
"You ask too many questions." He says as he sits on the polished floor with his legs crossed.
"Why are you always so tense?" He asks questioningly. 'Why do you care?' I thought to myself. Anyways it's none of his business. I don't need to reason with him.
"You ask too many questions." I mirror him and he smirks and raises his eyebrows. Cutting through the conversation enters a tall woman in black and black, bold framed glasses and her curly hair wrapped up in a messy bun. She walks in with a smile big enough to make her cheeks hurt. As she enters Alex stands up.
"Bonjour, Amy." She says her French accent radiating off her tongue fluently. I draw my eyebrows together wondering how she knows me despite the fact that it's only my fourth day here.
"Oh sorry, I'm Madame Louisa, the dance teacher. " She says. Then it all comes rolling down to me. I told Alex I like dancing and he suggested that I should join the dance club.
"I knew you wouldn't go and sign up yourself, so I decided to help you out," Alex says and I turn to Madame Louisa with a beaming smile.
"I'd love to join if that's ok." I address to the teacher.
"Fantastique, That'd be wonderful." She said. I already like her.
"I'm off then. I'll leave you girls to it." Alex says whilst putting his hands up in surrender. With that said Alex exits as if our nodding was his cue.
"So, Amy I've heard a lot about you," Louisa says. Has she?
"You have?" I ask.
"Yeah, Alex has told me a lot about you." She says. Urm..okay... He doesn't even know me that well it hasn't even been a week since I started here so I'm wondering how he knows a lot about me.
Hold on a sec... Does that mean he knows what happened in London?
No, no. Amy shut up there's no way he knows he's not a mind reader and if he does know it doesn't matter it wasn't your fault anyway. I say to myself but even then I still know it was totally 100% my fault.
Before I could reply students start walking in. Madame Louise explains that the new dance class starts today and suggested I should start today and continue if I wish. I go to my locker and take out the gym clothes that I always keep. It was nothing big it was just the clothes I was dancing with in my basement the other day but instead of the white T-shirt, I wore a black sports tank top.
I walk back into the studio with my hoodie tied around my waist. I could hear music beaming off of the big speakers that were hung high, as I try to figure out what music it is someone shoves me causing me to stumble a little but gladly I don't fall from the force. I look to see who the culprit is and I see a girl that looks very familiar come into my view to stand in front of me. She has strawberry blonde hair and her upper body is wrapped up in a sheer white camisole whilst her lower body is suffocating with a pair of tight fitted black jeans. That's when it hits me she's Kaira the one that is possessive of Alex. Before I could even breathe a word she speaks.
"Oh I am so sorry, I guess I just didn't notice you were there since you don't deserve to be here." She says with a mocking voice. I just roll my eyes. Clearly, she just wants an argument.
"Don't you have anything better to do than to pull up an argument?" I retort.
"Well yes, that is making you get out of this class." She says. Just who does this drama queen think she is?
"Good luck with that because I don't plan on it anytime soon." I snap.
"Oh, believe me, I know how to make you get lost." She exclaims. I'm getting tired of this.
"Unless your name is google stop acting like you know everything," I state. Can she just get lost? I have better things to do.
"Don't act smart, your just stupid. Probably the stupidest person here." She spits out. Ok, I'm no longer playing nice.
"Is that right? And what exactly have you accomplished in your life that makes you Einstein?" I snap.
"I'm not really pleased with your behaviour." She says with her arms folded.
Uh hello, your not my mother. She was about to continue but I stopped by placing my hand in front of her at level with my face.
"Before you tell me what I did wrong, you should first know that I don't care." With that said I walk passed definitely had enough of her unnecessary dramas.
Everyone gathers around and forms a circle and Madame Louisa stands in the middle.
"Hi, dancers. Welcome back to our new term of dance class. We have quite a few students that were already with us last time like Ms Williams." she announces and on point, Kaira stands up and walks towards the middle.
"It's great to be back here. Of course last year we had won the dance competition thanks to me it was really easy to beat the others anyways and the other last two years. New members here please don't hesitate to ask for help and take me as a role model." Kaira says in an overly sickly sweet voice as she directs her gaze towards me. I'm not that dumb to notice she was addressing her role model speech to me. Everyone claps their hand, especially her minions that are caked with foundation. Kaira flips her hair and walks back to where she was completely proud of what happened, she doesn't waste a moment in looking at me with an expression that radiates a ruling vibe which reads 'I'm the queen around here' I roll my eyes at her pathetic attempt to make me feel like a complete nothing.
"Kaira why not show a short routine to the new students, it can be a sample of what we learn around here." One of Kaira's minions steps up. Kaira smirks at this and walks forward back to the middles and Madame Louisa stands among the other students.
"Daniella, take care of the music, please," Kaira says to one of her minions the same minion who piped up the routine suggestion. Daniella gladly obeys and walks to the stereo. Soon the music is turned on and Daniella increases the volume filling the room with a fast consistent beat. Kaira taps her feet getting her mindset in rhythm to the music and not long after she's using the space around her as her feet glide across the polished floors whilst her arms move in sync. Credits to her she is not at all a bad dancer. Not at all. The girl can actually move in beat and I could feel she's trying not to mess up her complicated footwork. I again do not miss when she gives me that two-second eye contact as she twirls and poses as the music comes to an end and a round of applauds comes beaming to my ears. She may not have made the best first impression but I still applaud her.
"Thank you, thank you. That was nothing really." Kaira says in her sassy tone.
"For the newcomers I'd like to give you a warm welcome and if you need any advice please don't hesitate to ask me or Ms Williams since she was our choreography lead for the past two years and she has done a great job so far with preparing and rehearsing our students for the annual dance show that happens here in competition with our schools." Madame Louisa announces.
The whole intro to new students thing lasted a couple more minutes and Madame insisted that the new students come up with a two-minute dance routine to show what they can do (it was really Kaira's idea) So here we are not paired up with a new student as a partner whilst the former students watch us.
I would be lying if I said I'm pretty chill about this task because I may have been dancing for years but that was behind brick walls. I don't really show my dance to anyone else other than my family, but now I kind of feeling exposed and totally nervous may be a little insecure too.
