On tv, news of yet another war and mass genocide were being displayed, making him turn the tv off and cover his ears.
"It's terrible isn't it?"
His mother commented, as she continued typing up her work. It baffled him, as to how people could easily comment on a disaster, yet not do anything about it.
"Mum it's worse than terrible...it's the ugliest thing you could ever talk about! We need to help and do something about it."
His father just shook his head and as did his mother.
"Look son, as much as your mother and I want to make a change we can't- we barely have enough for ourselves."
"Yes but surely we could give something."
Both of his parents just shook their heads, as he slumped down in his chair.
"We wish we could son but our financial position isn't allowing it. Besides there are wealthier people, who could assist but no the world is corrupted by greed."
His mother explained, before going back to her work.
But that's just being selfish...and even if we're barely cutting ends, why can't other more fortunate people help? Why is the world slowly peeling it's beautiful shell and revealing the pain and the corruption within it?
