Today he was babysitting, his nephew. A strong, little creature, who was only four years of age and was determined to discover everything.
"Goodnight bub."
He said, as he put his sleepy nephew to bed.
"Goodnight..."
Before he could complete his sentence, his nephew dozed off his eyelids hiding away the sapphire eyes, which mirrored his own in a way only twins could.
He then proceeded to go to his own room, when he heard a frightened shriek from his nephew's room. Without wasting a second , he ran back only to find his nephew shivering in his bed, the covers hiding his face.
"Bub what's the matter?"
"I only opened my eyes to itch them, and a monster popped up from the dark! I'm s-scared of the dark!"
Still terrified, his nephew continued screaming and only calmed down when, he rocked him and turned on his phone's flashlight and used it like a nightlight.
When, his nephew finally fell asleep, he sat down and let his thoughts take him elsewhere.
I guess, that the darkness can hide the beautiful things of the world and disguise the fears, we think we've escaped.
