Yes this chapter is a little short, but I wanted to speed up the storyline and move on to the next chapter, apologies! -PercabethShipper206
They had slept for the rest of the day out of pure exhaustion. The next day, nobody even got mad at them for sleeping in the same bed because they knew they deserved it. It was emotionally and physically draining for both of them. The stress from the past two days had drained them so much to the point that they didn't wake up until 2 PM the next day.
Reyna turned, wrapping her arms around Nico's torso, and he turned towards her and pulled her to him. Nico had finally gotten his growth spurt, and was 5'11. He was two inches taller than her now. She moved upwards, shoving her head underneath his chin. He ran his hand through her hair and they laid there for a while, embracing each other in case they didn't get the chance to again.
When they finally decided to leave the cabin, it was almost four in the afternoon. They each showered and got dressed, unpacked Nico's backpack, and prepared to send Hazel back to Camp Jupiter.
"Are you sure you'll be okay on your own? I don't want another Eidolon getting hold of you." Nico worried. He had Hazel's hands in his and his brows furrowed.
"Yes, Nico. I'll be fine. I'll check in with you and Frank every hour. Stop worrying about me. Reyna needs you right now." Hazel bid him goodbye and the child of Pluto sped off with Arion.
The Apollo children found that Reyna had a large gash on her back, presumably where the Eidolon had 'exited' from. This made it extremely difficult for her to do anything without reopening the wound. Nico did his best to help her around, and while she insisted that she could do everything just fine, it was clear that the wound was troubling her. She tried eating ambrosia and drinking nectar, but not even those would heal her. In a way, she didn't mind it. It was a sign that she had just survived the impossible, jumped over a hurdle that no other person on the track team could.
It was like Percy and Annabeth's gray streak of hair from when they held up the sky: proof that she was more than anyone thought her to be.
Over the next few weeks, the wound did close, but the scar was clear: a thick golden line stretching along her back.
Nico would trace his finger along it through her clothes, and it helped her sleep. Her nightmares had gotten worse since the Eidolon attack, but with her Greek friends by her side, she was ready to tackle them. She was grateful for everything they'd done for her, from helping her get out of bed to gifting her a handcrafted magic bracelet that turned into a sword and shield with purple and gold designs.
When she had recovered enough from the gash on her back, she and Nico went down to the training arena and began their usual routine, this time with her new weapons. Nico summoned a few skeletons, and Reyna fought with amazing speed, technique, and agility.
"Weeks without training and you're still as graceful as ever." Nico smiled. Reyna grinned, glad to be standing with a sword in her hand and her boyfriend by her side.
