Reyna - Chapter 19

A few days later, Reyna walked into the bathroom and looked around at the several pregnancy tests she'd taken. They all had two lines. The second lines were faint on each one, but they were definitely there. Her heart raced and tears of joy fell. She was hopping in the bathroom giddily, overjoyed that she and Nico had finally succeeded. 

How do I tell Nico? She pondered. Did she want to spring the news on him as soon as he got home? 

No, I've got just the idea. She laughed to herself.

When Nico arrived home, only one light in the house was on. It was in the kitchen, where Reyna sat, the pregnancy test sitting on a tissue on the table. Reyna's face was in her hands and tears were streaming down her face. Nico dropped his backpack and, without looking at the pregnancy test, immediately went to her.

"Rey, honey, what's wrong? I know we've been trying and it's taking longer than we thought, but it's alright, we just have to keep trying, like we said a few days ago. It's okay, Reyna, I still love you," Nico said, pulling her into a hug. Her face was still in her hands, and now that Nico had gotten a closer look, he realized that there was a small grin she was trying to hide behind her hands. 

"Rey...?" He said. Reyna took her hands off and wrapped her arms around him.

"Nico!" She cried. She laughed with tears still falling. She picked up the pregnancy test and hugged him again. "Oh, Nico, we did it!"

"What?!" Nico said, a wide smile on his face.

"Nico, we're pregnant!" She showed him the test with two lines and he picked her up bridal-style and started kissing her cheek and neck, their laughter filling the whole house.

Reyna gasped. "Oh my gods," she remembered.

"What?" Nico asked. He put her back on her feet. Her hands covered her mouth as it spread into a wide grin. 

"Names! What are we gonna name them?" Reyna yelled excitedly. Nico beamed at her.

"Of course! We have to start thinking of names! Oh, and the baby room and their clothes..." Nico rambled, stars in his eyes. 

He kissed his lovely wife and held her head in his hands.

"This is going to be wonderful."
