Both Nico and Reyna had finished college three years ago. Reyna wanted to be a housewife, and because she had so much stress in her teenage years, Nico supported her wholeheartedly. He had become a police officer because of his demigod abilities to detect death, and so he was very successful at preventing crimes involving murders and events similar to them. He was offered many promotions, but liked the position of captain in his police force. He and his lovely wife were able to live comfortably in California, the same state as their old home, Camp Jupiter.

Nico stepped inside the house after quite a long day at work when Reyna was in the kitchen making dinner.

"Hi, honey," Reyna called as she added a little bit of salt. Nico smiled and walked over to her. He wrapped his arms around her stomach and kissed her cheek. She smiled and turned around to kiss him back. It was around 6 o'clock in the evening, and the two of them slow-danced in the kitchen for several minutes, enjoying each other's embrace.

After she turned off the stove, Nico hugged her once more and kissed the top of her head. "Anything yet?" he asked. Reyna shook her head. They had been trying to have a child for about a year now, but still nothing. They kept trying and trying, but nothing ever worked.

Reyna sighed. "I really want a child, Nico. I know we can handle one. I know we're ready." Nico hugged her a little bit tighter.

"It's okay, Rey. We just have to keep trying." After a moment of silence, Nico smiled. "I know what it is," he said.

"What?" Reyna asked, ready to laugh.

"The gods know that a child between us would be too powerful, and so they're preventing us from having one," he joked. Reyna laughed, and put a hand on her forehead.

"That must be it," she jokingly agreed.  She sighed, looking up at Nico. She hugged him again, sniffling. "Thank you, Nico."

"That's what I'm here for, honey."

"I love you."

"I love you too."
