Teto wakes to a bright flash as she tries to open her eyes. Above her hangs a bright examination light like the ones she remembered from hospital movies. Immediately she begins to get scared and tries to sit up, but is restrained by metal clamps around her arms and legs. She is so scared she doesn't even notice Len watching her, wide-eyed.

He can tell she's about to scream so he covers her mouth with one hand and her eyes with another.

"Shhh, hey, it's alright, no need to freak out."

Unfortunately, this makes her freak out even more, and she bites the skin of his thumb hard, making it bleed. Len withdraws his hands, hissing in pain. He reaches for a paper towel and is wrapping it around his thumb when Teto begins to speak.

"Who are you?!" She yells, hyperventilating, "Where am I?! Let me go right now!!"

Len is surprised by her voice. From her looks, she would have a sweet, soft voice, but instead her voice was rough and sounded older than she was. But instead of dwelling on this, he needed to get her to keep quiet so the scientists wouldn't come.

He turned back to her. She was still fighting the restraints but she was giving him a look that could probably cut diamonds. Instead of showing how intimidated he felt, he gave her the most understanding look he could muster.

"Hey, I know you're scared, and you don't wanna be here. I get it. But you'll get in even more trouble if you don't keep quiet, okay?"

Instead of cooperating, however, Teto holds her glare.

"I'm not doing anything for you!! I'm not doing anything until you answer me!! Who are you and where am I?!" She yells, getting progressively louder the longer she's talking.

Len sighs, hoping there weren't any scientists around to hear her yelling.

"I can't tell you where we are," he begins, being as gentle as possible, "or I might be killed. My name is Kagamine Len, I work for our cause here. What's your name?"

If Teto's look softened, it wasn't noticeable.

"Why would I tell you my name? You kidnapped me! For whatever your stupid cause is." She wasn't yelling anymore, but Len could hear clearly the anger in her voice.

Len felt like he was in an impossible situation. He wanted her to feel safe, but he knew if he were in her position he would be scared and angry too. He decided to try a tactic he used on Rin many times before. He put his hands up as if she were about to shoot him and started to back away.

"Alright, alright. Sounds like you want to be left alone. If you want, I'll drug you again so you'll go back to sleep."

This made Teto scared again. She didn't want to be there in the first place, but she didn't want to be left alone either, not even in her own head. She sighed.

"Wait! No, don't drug me. My name is- um- Ruby." She said, quickly remembering her nickname at school.

Len turned around and smiled, though she didn't smile back.

"Nice to meet you Ruby."

Teto snorts.

"Nice for you, maybe. Let me up now, would ya?"

Len debated whether or not this was a good idea in his head. He decided to compromise.

"I'll take the iv and heart monitor off, and release your arms, but I gotta keep you on the table so I gotta keep your legs restricted. Believe me, if my life weren't on the line I would be a lot more flexible."

Teto didn't believe him for a second, but she decided to take all that she could get from him. She relaxed while he pulled a key from his pocket and released the arm restraints. She held her breath while he pulled the iv out, then he let her take off the heart monitors herself. She sat up and stretched her arms, but noticed him staring at her. She glared at him.
