KATHLEEN'S POV
"I've been thinking about you lately." These were the words Jake said to me from his latest phone calls. I was surprised and hanged up on him. It isn't because of someone finally having the courage to love me but because I fear that Jake will leave me soon. I was afraid of him finding out that I was an assassin. Love was never in my life before, but it came to me like the brightest daylight yesterday. I wasn't sure on what to do now. He probably is upset for hanging up on him.
"What's wrong Kath?" Caitlyn was standing behind me as I was sitting on the ledge of the balcony of our room.
"Nothing. Things got complicated." I replied. My sister deserves to know since she is probably worried about me.
"With that coffee guy?" She asked. I wasn't sure if I should answer that but since I decided to let her know, I told the truth.
"Yes. I think I like him but there is fear and regret rushing through me every time I think about him." I explained. I wasn't sure anymore. Should I follow my heart or my mind?
"You're assuming too much. What if that doesn't happen and you just let your chance slide away?" My sister was right. I never even thought about that. I was always on the negative side of the story.
"You're right! But what should I do now, I just hanged up on him." I panicked.
"Call him. That's the only way now. Or meet with him. Something like that." My sister suggested.
"Thanks Cait. You're a big help." I thanked my sister and started dialing his number but no one was picking up until "Hello?" It was a girl's voice. I immediately put my cellphone down.
"What? What happened?" Caitlyn asked me. I was not sure what to answer.
"A girl happened. I shouldn't have called back." I was upset. I didn't expect to hear a woman's voice on the other side, I mean who would, if you know the person you're supposed to talk to.
"Oh." The only word she said to me. "You know, call him back, maybe you called at the wrong time. Maybe that's his sister or mother or someone else."
"Yeah right. A cellphone is private property you know. Even family can't touch it." I explained to her.
"Oh really? How come you can browse my phone freely?" She replied.
"Okay fine. Just one last phone call." I answered.
Before I even got to dial the numbers, my phone rang. It was Jake. He's calling me back. I quickly answered the phone.
"Hello?" my tone was a bit upset but I didn't want that to ruin our conversation.
"Kathleen? Hey. Uhhmm.. About earlier, the girl who answered the phone I was just thinking that maybe you got the wrong idea so i called you back. It's not what you think. She's actually my landlady so yeah. Just wanted to inform you." He explained. His landlady? I was about to laugh out loud. The doubt I had earlier was gone. I was happy, HE made me happy.
"Uhh, okay. It's not like I was thinking that she may possibly be your girlfriend or something-" I stopped. What was I saying, that's exactly what I thought and I just said it to him over the phone. It was too obvious. I can't believe myself.
"Anyways, can we meet sometime? You know, to apologize for what happened." He asked out of the blue. All he ever do is ask me out. Wow! What a progress.
"Uhhm, sure. Yeah. I'm free this Tuesday." I have researched it already that the next time we go out I will schedule it on the 'best-day-to-have-a-date' day. In a magazine somewhere, they've done a survey asking girls on when they want to schedule their dates, Tuesdays are ranked one.
