It was Saturday. The day Kathleen was waiting for. Another morning filled with happiness. Kathleen woke up extra early today since she was really excited in meeting Jake. Kathleen got out of bed. She showered, brushed her teeth and pick out something nice from her closet. After all the trouble, she was set. Caitlyn was still asleep. She gave a kiss on her forehead and left. Before reaching the front door, she was stopped by a voice from behind.
"Where are you going this early Kathleen?" It was Callen.
"I was going for a jog today. In the park. Then maybe stop by for coffee." Kathleen didn't have anything else to cover.
"Really? Okay. Then, be on your way." Callen suspiciously allowed her to go out.
"Sure. Meet you guys later." Kathleen somehow sensed that there was something in Callen's eye that made her very uncomfortable. She left the house anyways.
She drove her car towards the park. She parked it nearby and got out. Kathleen jogged around the park while still waiting for Jake. She got there earlier than she expected. It was also a nice idea since she really did jog around the park meaning she didn't lie to Callen.
After 5-10 minutes, she stops to breathe some air. She bends down with her hands in her knees, sweat from her forehead falling like teardrops until someone approaches her in front. She couldn't see the person since she was bending down. Kathleen knows what to do when someone suspicious approaches her, she's an assassin after all.
Before even reaching her place, she lifts her head up and kicks toward the person moving towards her. The person in front holds up her leg and says "Wow. You're good." It was Jake, the person who she has plans with.
"Uhh, sorry. I didn't expect to see you here since we agreed to meet at the coffee shop. I'm really sorry. Can I have my leg back?" Kathleen unexpectedly meets him in the park.
"Sure. Wanna go now? Or do you still have laps to finish?" Jake asked.
"No, no. Let's go. I need to be back early, so yeah." Kathleen answered.
"Then, let's go. Ms. Sterling. Oh and yeah can I call you Kathleen?" one of the questions Jake didn't want to ask on the 2nd day of their meeting. "It's much better than Ms. Sterling."
"Yeah, sure. Kathleen's fine." she hides her smile before Jake notices.
They both went for the coffee shop they went to previously. The same events happened like the waitress approaches them then takes their order. An espresso and cappuccino again.
"So, we're finished with the introductions. I'm not really good at making friends. Can you start?" Jake requested. It was unusual for a guy to ask these kinds of questions. Maybe he was nervous and not really sure on how to do this all along.
"Uhh, I'm also not a friendly gal. To be honest, you're the first friend I've ever made. Well, except for Callen and Caitlyn." she started the conversation by telling him about her family instead.
"Callen? Who's Callen? Your brother?" He was curious on what Callen and Kathleen are. He was rather jealous than curious.
"He's kind of my brother. We've been living together since we were young and he was the one who saved us from-" Kathleen was spilling too much. She didn't want him to look suspiciously at her but now she's done it.
"Saved from what?" he doubtly asked.
"Uhh, from depression." Kathleen quickly covered. The worst cover she could ever think about.
"Depression? Why?" Jake didn't want to get away from this topic because he thinks he might know more about Kathleen this way.
"Yeah. My parents were really rich, I mean, we were rich before. Then an accident happened which caused them to die. Callen saved us and adopted us like his own sisters. Ever since then, we are very grateful to him. My sister and I did everything we could to pay him. I guess we didn't try hard enough." Kathleen looks at her right, her elbow on the table and puts her left hand under her chin. She was remembering how she was before and how she is now.
