Lani
This morning, I had walked out my apartment door with a bucket full of confidence. But now I'm walking home with a pool full of disappointment. Getting people to buy your demos and notice your music is not the piece of cake I thought it was. Well, I knew it was going to be difficult, but this difficult? No, I was clueless.
"Excuse me?" I said to a blonde woman at the front desk. She looked about in her early 30's. I can't wait for my demo to be out. My songs to be on the radio. Well, thats if this lady stops chomping on her gum and gets off the phone. I can't bare to listen for another fifteen minutes to her friend how Becky and Brad broke up. Like you have a job here! "Ma'am?" I said a little louder this time. She rolls her eyes at me, still chomping her gum, and directs her index finger as if she were saying 'one' at me. "Excuse you. Can't you see I'm on the phone? Sorry, Kate. Some idiot interupt- WHAT?! She didn't?" I have no patience for people like her. How did she even get this job?! Let alone, keep it?! Fed up, I lean over the desk and snatch the phone from her hand and slam it down back onto the machine.
I think you know how that flashback ended. That wasn't worse of the day though.
"I quit!" A boy who looked a bit older than me stormed out of the building I was just about to walk into. I'm trying not to be quick to judge. Maybe there isn't anything wrong with the producer here. Maybe its just the guy. So I open the double glass door and find two men in suits and one woman with her red hair pulled nicley back in a nice black dress/suit kind of thing. They look a bit worried. "Excuse me? Can I speak to Mr.Cogan?" I said interupting their frustation. One bald man turns and smiles at me. "Are you here for a career?" He says. "Yeah?" I don't know why I made seem like I wasn't sure. Obviously I wanted to make something of myself. "He's down that hall. Go straight, take a right, and he should be the first door on the left." As I walk down the hall, I hear a strange laughter get louder as I get closer to his room. It's not a creepy laugh. It's more of a dumb sounding laugh. I open the door. "Mr. Cogan?" I said. The first thing I see? A chunky man on the floor with a bottle of rum in his hand. He's in the corner next to the door to the room where artist record their song. "I'm sorry. I must have the wrong room," I say. "No, no! I am Mr.cogun. Whadda wan bitch?" He says slirring his words. "I.. uh... I have song demos." The man looks up at me and patts his hand next to him on the floor. "Come, sit dow." Okay, I know its dumb of me to sit down next to a drunk older guy not knowing his intentions, but I needed this more than anything. "What's your na-" He starts to speak but then pause and throws up to other side of him. I hurry up and jump up from my spot. "Uh, you know what? The songs not even that great. Sorry to waste your time. Good luck on song finding or whatever," I say as I back up to the door. And Out I went. That was an experience.
Okay, that might of been the most awkward time of my life as far as I'm concerned. Here's another brief flashback to my AWESOME (not) day!
The first thing I see as I walk in, is a bunch of girls giggling and waiting for someone to call their name. There were girl groups, solo artist. Just girls with dreams. But looking around the room, it looked like a huge spam. Or just another Rebecca Black scene waiting to happen. I turned and walked right back out.
My day sucked. Who am I kidding? I'll never make it. Luke, where are you when I need you? Oh, thats right; dead. I finally reach my flat and as I'm about to unlock the door, I see a note.
Lani,
I wont be home today. Its okay don't cry, I'll be back tonight! Just at the studio working on some songs. Here's my number btw: *** *** ****
Harry
"What? Are we married or something?" I say to myself. I secretly find it cute though. I whip out my phone and save his number.
