Once we arrived in the driveway, we figured we'd just skip out on going home and going downtown. So, there we were, backing out of the driveway, nearly knocking over the trash cans.
Downtown was pretty empty, but that was only because it was daytime. Once the sun hides and darkness takes over the sky, everyone will come out to party. We went to the theater and purchased three tickets for Superbad. We entered the cinema, quickly bought popcorn and soda, and ran into the showroom just as the movie was starting. Luckily, we found a seat at the top of the rows, meaning we wouldn't become a victim of food and spit hitting us.
I sat in the middle of the guys. Benny was to my right, and Erik at my left. The movie started. A little while through it, I felt someone's arm go around me. Of course it wasn't Erik, him being my cousin, but yeah, it was Benny. I looked at him and smiled a little. He was grinning like a madman, making me giggle a bit.
The movie finished near 5 o'clock. The sun was starting to set. People slowly started coming out. We sat around and met up with some of their friends until dark. Then we decided to walk around downtown for a bit. The clubs were getting packed with people, venues were crowded due to all the performances, teenagers scrambled around happy that their weekend was finally here and freedom from school had been released.
"So, are you coming to school with me on Monday to register?" Benny asked, begging for conversation.
"Um, sure, why not?" I smiled.
"Too bad I graduated already. It would be hella sick going to school with you again," Erik sadly stated.
"Well... are you going to college?" I asked. Erik nodded with a big smile.
"Why would you want to go to college? It's a waste of time," Benny said.
"I don't know, maybe because I don't want to be a loser," I brutally joked. We laughed.
"I'm just going to go to auto school and become a smog technician," he said, "fuck regular college."
It started getting really late. Being half-past 2am, we thought it would be best if we went home. We arrived five minutes to 3am. Erik and I were barely in time for our "curfew". Benny and I sat on the porch to rest our legs and talk while Erik parked his car in the garage.
"So... what did you think of today?" Benny asked, playing with his fingers. I stared out into the street, recapping the day in my head.
"Eh. It was pretty fun. What did you think of it?" I finally asked.
"I had fun... being with you and all," he smiled, making me blush.
Erik soon came back into the front yard after messing with his car. He pointed out a party going on across the street.
"I'm going to go check it out. See what the guys are up to. Do you guys want to come?" he asked. Benny looked nervous, then shook his head 'no'.
"Dude, they're not going to say anything to you," Erik said, me staying quiet and confused.
"It's fine, I'll stay here," Benny said.
"I'll stay with him," I added in. Erik nodded and walked across the street.
"I'm guessing that house belongs to one of the guys from the mall," I said, interrupting Benny from his thoughts. He nodded. I said nothing more about it. I noticed he started smiling.
"What's on your mind?" I asked with a laugh.
"No-nothing. Nothing," he stuttered, shaking his head and chuckling. He gazed out into the dark street.
"Tell me," I said, pulling and shaking him by the arm. He looked at me.
"What?!" I asked, giggling even more.
"You're just...never mind, never mind," he continued laughing. I put on a sad face.
"Tell me, please," I begged. He was silent as he stared down at the ground. He looked over to me again.
"You're just so beautiful," he softly said. I grinned.
"Aw, thank you." He started to blush.
"No, really. You don't understand like, how beautiful you are. Not only on the outside, but the inside too. You're sweet, and nice. You're caring, you understand me, and you just... you're just so perfect," he said. He covered his face with his hands and sighed.
We ended up getting into a deep, long-lasting conversation, that wasn't even finished at nearly 4am. Erik still wasn't home. I was a little worried, but knowing he was Straight Edge, made me realize he wouldn't do anything stupid. This made me worry a lot less.
It started getting really cold. The wind blew roughly; tossing tree branches around, making leaves swirl throughout the air. My body started to shake and my teeth started chattering. I hugged myself, trying to keep warm, not wanting to go inside the house. My fingers felt as if they were going to break off.
"You alright?" Benny chuckled.
"Yeah, I'm j-just c-c-c-cold," I replied, huddling in a ball.
"Aww, come closer to me," he said, gently pulling me closer and wrapping me in his jacket with him and tightly placing his arms around me.
"Is that better?" he smiled.
"Mhm," I replied, smiling back at him.
We ended up going inside of the house at 5am. I made a bed for Benny on the floor next to my bed, and who knows when Erik came home. Lying in bed for only a few moments, I fell fast asleep.
