Hey everyone! Sorry for the late post, been having computer issues and was dealing with a new job. But I'm back!~ Britt
Normani's POV
I can't believe it, we lost one of the babies. It wasn't fair, and it was her fault.
"Normani." A doctor said softly, knocking on the door.
I rolled over onto my side to look at the doctor. "Yes?" I said, trying to hide my anger.
"We need to check on the twins." He said softly, walking further into the room.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever." I muttered.
"You know, you're quite lucky, most mothers would have lost all three of their babies." He said, lifting my gown and bringing over a machine.
"Whatever." I muttered again.
Camila doesn't deserve any of these babies. It's her fault we lost one, why should she get the other two? Why should she get Lauren's baby?
"Can I tell you a story?" He asked, putting the gel on the wand and pushing it against my stomach.
"If you want to." I said bluntly. I honestly didn't care about what he had to say.
He sighed and began moving the wand over my stomach, keeping his eyes on the monitor. "My wife and I, we were expecting triplets, but something went wrong, we lost all but one." He paused and the sound of two heartbeats filled the room. "I blamed myself everyday for it, much like your girlfriend is blaming herself. The difference is, you both did nothing wrong."
"What did you do?" I asked, frowning at him.
He took a deep breath and looked at me, pain in his eyes. "I was drunk, I had just lost a patient, she was having pain in her stomach and we told her we needed to perform a c-section." He turned off the monitor and wiped my stomach before pulling my gown back down. "Not only did we lose the baby, but the mother as well. I blamed myself, went out and got drunk, my wife she works here as well." Clearing his throat, he looks into my eyes. "I came back to pick her up, and as we were driving home, the alcohol took effect and I drove us into oncoming traffic."
"Oh." I said. "I'm sorry for your loss." I tried to hide the bitterness in my voice.
He sighed and stood up, running a hand through his hair. "Normani, I don't wish this on anyone, ever but it happens, and you losing the baby wasn't from sex." He said softly. "Even if she made it to birth she wouldn't have lived long, her bones were breaking inside of you."
"How were they breaking?" I asked, frowning at him. "The bones?" I said, just to make sure he knew what I meant.
He sighed and sat back down, "She had a disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta which means she had fragile bones and even you wouldn't be able to protect her. What happened is with there being three of them it became crowded." He grabbed my hand and squeezed gently. "One of her sisters kicked her in the womb and it broke her neck, because of that you began going through the stages of a miscarriage, that's why we performed the c-section on you."
I closed my eyes, pulling my hand out of his. I curled up, burying my face in my knees.
"Normani, now is the time to have your friends and family close to you. I'm sorry you lost one of your daughters." He said sighing before standing up to leave.
The door opens and Camila slowly walks in with Lauren.
"Mani!" Lauren said, I could hear the excitement in her voice, which was rare for her.
Lauren ran over to the bed.
She seemed almost childlike in that moment.
Camila stayed by the door, her arms wrapped around her waist and her head down.
