personality: dakota can be more than a bit cut-throat though that is becoming of a pirate. while not in it for the treasure, she craves the adventure and adrenaline that comes from her high-sea adventures. she also has a big love and appreciation of the sea in general, a big believer of chasing the never attainable horizon. while known to double cross others, there are a few people who she is unbelievably loyal to, unable to betray them at any cost. other than her loyalty to those people, there is almost no line she is not willing to cross. 
backstory: dakota was born as the oldest daughter of a very rich merchant who was friends with weatherby swann causing her to grow up very close with elizabeth swann. when she was only ten, her parents and younger sister were killed in a storm while traveling. dakota was saved from being homeless by the kindness of the swanns though almost all of her family's wealth was gone in order to pay off debts. because of her lack of wealth and status, little attention was paid to her, allowing dakota to spend most of her time reading about pirates and sword fighting with william. as her, william, and elizabeth grew older, the three of them developed a tight knit friendship though dakota often remarked on her want to go and travel the seas, something her father forbid as his last wish to governor swann. after elizabeth was kidnapped by the crew of the black pearl, dakota joined jack sparrow and william to help rescue her. during this adventure, despite his rather double crossing nature, dakota found herself attracted to jack sparrow and life on the sea. after her, elizabeth, and will help rescue jack from being hanged, dakota joins him on the pearl, eventually becoming his first mate. she remains mostly by his side throughout the rest of his adventures, though is rarely mentioned in any of the stories as she tends to hide in the shadows and strike without being seen. throughout the events of the films, she is constantly questioning her own morals as well as her companions though she tends to be the most honest out of all of them.
