I was on the couch, waking up to a phone call. "What the hell?" I mumble. I look and it's 2 AM. It was from the hospital but nothing had been wrong with me so I was sure it wasn't urgent. I ignore it and cuddle up against Colby. It was just me and Colby cause everyone else decided not to be lazy and walked to there room. The lights were dim and it was very comfortable.

I was almost asleep and they didn't call back, so I knew it wasn't urgent. I slowly drift off, still curious at why they called so early.

This time I wake up and Colby isn't next to me, but my nose smells waffles. I shoot my head up and race to the kitchen. "Waffles?! Waffles?!" I ask and Sam laughs. "Yep. I suck at making them though so I hope you enjoy" he says. I nod "as long as there waffles" I say and he chuckles again. "I'll be right back" I say going outside so I could call them.

I tap "call back" and it rings for a minute. They answer "hey there. Y/n l/n?" The girl on the phone asks. "Yeah, that's me" I say.

"Well, you sound cheerful so I'm sorry to say this" I look puzzled. I look up and it's starting to rain. Dammit "w-what's wrong with me?" I asks and I hear her sigh. "Your grandmother has just passed away from age" It takes a minute to kick in, for me to actually register this. I sob "y/n-" I hang up and throw my phone on the ground, I sob and sit there on the ground.

"Y/n?" Colby asks, racing up to me. He picks me up and I sob into his shoulder. When my parents would go out I would stay with her. Grandma was the only one who cared for me. I sob more and Colby sets me down on the porch. He goes to grab my phone and picks me up again, bringing me inside.

He sits me down on the couch. "Sam said you were out there, what happened?" Colby asks. I sniffle and hold my, luckily waterproof iPhone 7, close. "M-my grandma was the only one who cared for me. And... S-she's dead" I say. Colby looks sad and does that awkward side hug. I smile. "You'll be ok" he says and I feel better.
