Chapter IV: First Day

I'm still at the garden and Hale came from nowhere, he was wearing a school uniform, and it actually looks good at him. I forgot everything I was thinking of. Hale made a sweet smile on his lips.

"Finally you're awake little thing, but what are you doing here?"

I trembled in fear-I think- when I heard his calm and caring voice.

"Oh! Me?! I was looking for someone!"

"You shouldn't be here, little thing."

I put up an eyebrow and asked.

"Why not?"

"It is the first day of school yah know. As the family paying your fees, shouldn't you be going to school?"

I was embarrassed because of what he said and I came back to my room fast, not saying something nor looking at hale.

I quickly took a bath for about only 3 minutes, I brushed my teeth, I put on my school uniform, I didn't even had the time to dry my hair. I arranged my bag, I only got a pen and a notebook, put it in the bag. I put on my shoes and hurried fast. As I was leaving, I bumped into Nicholas.

"Penelope, you're still here? You're going to be late! By the way, here is a new phone, I also bought two for me and hale, our numbers are already there, so you can always call me if there is an emergency, okay?"

"Thank you Nicholas, but I have to go now!"

"Wait, you should go with Hale in the car or you will be late!"

Without thinking I nod at Nicholas and hurry after Hale.

As I exited the mansion, I saw Hale already started the car and go. I signaled Hale to wait and shouted.

"Wait! Wait!" over and over as I chase after Hale. But he was already far, so I stopped to catch a breath.

"Seems like the jerk went off by himself. Gotta go hurry or I will miss my first class."

I walk hurriedly minding the time. Focusing my sight on my way. Suddenly I heard a honk of a car, I was surprised, it's the jerk.

"Get in little thing, or you'll be late." He said with a irritating smile.

I got in without saying anything and with a mad look at my face. He buckled my seatbelt then Hale held my chin and made it face his way. "You look really beautiful whenever you're mad." Seeing his irritating face, I slapped his hand, and faced the road and ordered him, "Let's go now or I'll be late!" Hale laughed and started to drive. Later while he was driving I noticed that we are heading the wrong way.

"Hey Hale, isn't the university that way?"

Hale smiled and said

"We're taking a shortcut."

When I looked at him with a mad curious face, he smiled and winked at me. As I was worried about having a shortcut, Hale looked at me with a worried face, too.

"Hale! What! Why?!"

"Penelope, I think the brakes are broken!"

"Wait! What?"

I faced my way at the road, and we we're about to hit a tree!

"Hale!" I shut my eyes, and was about to scream, we are going to hit the tree!

"Ahhh!!!"

*slap

Hale slapped me, and we appear to be in the parking place of the university, and I saw that some students were looking and laughing at me. I am so embarrassed *facepalm. Was I day dreaming?

Hale turned off the car and unbuckled my seatbelt.

"You should really get going now, or you'll be late."

I made a fierce face and left quickly.

*bell rings

Finally! I got into class on time and it seems like our professor isn't here yet. There's a big crowd here, I gotta go find me a seat, any seat will do.

"Penelope!"

I heard a girl call me, what a familiar voice, as I turned around I saw Sofie smiling and calling me. I waved and smiled at her. She signaled me to seat beside her, she was seated near the door.

As I make my way to her, I noticed a guy seated just spaces above Sofie, he was handsome, his eyes were the color of mint green, his hair has a smoky color, but his eyes feels like a stream of loneliness, I sense that he is filled with negative energy, like he doesn't want to be here. Suddenly, our eyes met, I feel like we our communicating, we were just staring quietly, then

"Penelope, Hey!"

Our gaze was cut, and Sofie pulled me to my seat. I smiled at Sofie and said

"Hi Sofie, thanks for saving me a seat."

"Welcome, I was actually worried about you getting late, I was waiting at the door for centuries and realized that almost all the seats are taken, so I saved one for me and you. Good thing the professor is not here yet. So how was your first week here?"

"Well, it wasn't that bad, not to mention I'm not that yet used to the new things I'm experiencing, so I'm trying my best to get used to this weird stuff."

Sofie was confused

"What weird stuff?"

"Well..."

As I was about to mention what happened to me and the jerk, he showed up with other people, his friends perhaps, a girl who's beautiful but looks and acts like a b*tch, and another boy who looks like another jerk. Hale looks at me with the irritating smile similar to last time. Sofie then held my hand and squeezed it to draw my attention to her. She made a worried face and said

"Did Hale did bad things to you?"

I took a glance at Hale and then face Sofie and clearly answered

"No."

Sofia sighed and was relieved with my answer.

"That's good to know."

Right after she finished saying that, the professor have just arrived, the professor looks like a total heartthrob, as I looked around the class, the girls are all smiling and the guys, well, they don't even care. I looked at Hale and he was just staring at me so I looked away. The professor went in front and looked at every single one of us.

"Good morning class, I'm not really sorry that I'm late, so I'm professor Hill , I will be your professor for Magic and spells and I will also be the class adviser , those of you who are troubled with what my age is, I am 40 years of age, I've been a professor here in this university for 20 years, and it is possible that your parents have been my students. My status is still single and I live in the dormitory.

So in this room, we have some rules, if you break these rule's , you will be punished.

First rule: No dating
We are here in this school to learn, not to date

Second rule: No using spells unless it is assigned

Third rule: No eating at the class, you are only allowed to eat on break time

Fourth rule: No killing
You are not allowed to kill each other

And the last rule: No gadgets
You are not allowed to use your gadgets on class time, except for emegencies.

Any question?"

The whole crowd where all silent

"Very well- Let's start"

Professor Hill started lecturing us. As he lectures, I gaze at Hale and saw that he was looking at me, too. Our eyes were both locked at each other, then suddenly

"Ms. Heddence, Mr. Night!"

Everybody looked at us both, and Hale closed his eyes and ignored him. And I was just staring at nothing, embarassed. Then Mr. Hill continued...
