Thomas's point of view
"Come on bro! Don't just stand there. It's a new year's eve party. It's a chance to meet chicks! Loosen up have some fun!" Patrick, my best friend, said. Patrick always had to be the life of the party. Sometimes it seriously pissed me off. Someday he and I were going to run the pack, he needed to quit fooling around.
"Oh come on don't give me that mom look. I know what you're thinking "Patrick, grow up. Patrick get some responsibility. Patrick you're so awesome I wish I was as cool as you." I know I know that last part is so true bro. That's why I want to help you see my awesome side of things and let loose to have fun!"
"First off no you're not awesome," I said shaking my head at him. "Second, I know how to have fun in my own way. Just because I don't want to be the center of attention or drunk on my ass doesn't mean I'm not having fun."
"Oh come on bro. You can't tell me you're not standing over here just observing things making sure trouble doesn't start. News flash bro. We still have a year left before we run this pack. Let's be normal teens who get into trouble before that time of alpha and beta comes. Here I'll introduce you to some girls."
"No Patrick, I don't want to meet any other girls I want to wait for my mate."
"You and this mate thing. It could be years before you find her dude. You don't have to love them, but you could at least date while you wait...hey that rhymed," he said laughing.
"Bro you're drunk. I'm waiting for my mate and that's it."
"Suit yourself jerk. I'm gonna go get some chicks," he said stumbling into the middle of the floor.
I stopped and realized I really didn't even know who's party this was. Andrews girlfriend invited him and he invited us boys. So here I stand. Watching over my future pack members making sure they don't cause trouble.
Being alpha, well future alpha, meant everything landed on me. As beta Patrick might not realize that. He can have all the fun he wants now, but I'm making sure my pack keeps a good appearance. We don't need the good townsfolk on our bad side. Only a few important people knew we even existed, and I wanted it to keep that way. One bad move and we could all face a lot of trouble.
Many years ago, when my like great-great-great-great-grandma (Oh yea, women can be alphas too. It's all about whose the first born in the family), was alpha she settled a peace treaty with the townsfolk here. We promised to protect their land. In exchange we have free roam of the land, which was largely forest (except for town) and a place to call home. We just couldn't go around telling the humans about us.
This made it difficult for when a member mated with a human. It rarely happened, generally it was with another werewolf from another pack, but it did happen. The treaty has a clause that the human mate may only know about werewolves once they accept the person as their mate.
"Hello?"
I hadn't realized how far I'd gone into thought.
"I'm sorry I was lost in thought" I said as I quickly scanned the room making sure my guys were behaving. Other than Patrick dancing like an idiot with some girl everything looked good.
"It's okay, I just don't remember meeting you so I was wondering why you're at my party" the voice said. I quickly finished my scan of the room and looked to see who I was talking to.
As soon as I looked into her eyes I knew she was my mate.
Her smell intoxicated me, better than any alcohol Patrick ever tried to shove down my throat. Her eyes, such a beautiful blue, were big and round. They made me stop breathing. Her hair was a beautiful contrast of dark and light blond, it looked natural. Not that bottle blond stuff. Her lips, so perfect and pink. How I wanted to bite them and kiss them, make them mine.
"Hello? Earth to mysterious cutie?" She said with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry ma'am. I was deep in thought. Wait did you just call me a mysterious cutie?" I was taken back by her boldness. It was so hot though.
She giggled again. "Yes. You're very cute. But you're mysterious cause I have no idea who you are and you aren't giving me much information."
"I'm sorry. My name is Thomas. I came with some friends. Um Andrew Reener, I don't know if you know him, but his girlfriend Audrey Lane invited him. Andrew invited some of us boys, including myself and the idiot in the middle of the dance floor." God she made me nervous. Me the big bad alpha. Nervous. Thank God the guys couldn't see me.
"Haha bro get cool! She's hot don't blow it. And I'm not an idiot!" Patrick mind linked me
"Shut the hell up." I told him. I looked over and saw he was across the room watching us.
"Oh good. You met her, she's the reason I dragged you down here. Audrey says you're perfect for each other" Andrew said through the link.
"Oh yea I know Andrew and Audrey. They're so cute together!" The girl said.
"Well I hope it's okay I crashed" I said shutting the guys out of my head, which was almost impossible to do.
"Of course. On one condition though" she said twirling her hair and biting her lip.
God she was killing me with her beauty. I would do anything she asked me to do.
"What's that?" I asked
"Dance with me for my birthday."
