Shay
It took some convincing but I finally got my dad to leave for the weekend. He almost canceled everything when I really got sick a few days ago. It was just a fever, but to my dad it's like the end of the world.
I know he means well, and he's just scared of losing me since I'm all he's got. But it was JUST a fever. I'm feeling so much better after spending a few days in bed doing nothing.
Today I was going out, exploring the city, meeting new people. Creating my own world outside dirty lockerrooms and practice fields.
First thing to do: get out of bed.
Okay. Oneeee-twoooo-threeee. I jumped out of bed and walked to my bathroom to take a shower. If I was meeting new people I couldn't smell like this.
Holy crap! And I definitely couldn't look like this. How about a permanant bedhead look, gheesj.
After I got ready I went downstairs for some breakfast and I had to admit, I missed my dad's breakfast in beds from the last couple of days, now I had to make my own, uhg.
I grabbed a bowl and ate some cerial. Thinking about everything I wanted to do today. I could go to the library to get some new books. Oh and look for a good bakery where they sell some good pastries.
Thinking about all of this actually got me excited for something for the first time in days. It was still early so if I left now, the more stuff I could do today.
After putting my bowl in the dishwasher, I grabbed my coat and walked outside and over to my car. I paused because I wasn't sure if I had turned off my straighter, but then I rememberd I also put it back in my drawer.
Okay, all good. Time to go. In my car I connected my phone so I could play my spotify playlist on my way to town. This was going to be a good day. No more bad moods.
As I walked through the streets I noticed this town takes baseball very very seriously. Posters and commercials about next weeks first game everywhere.
Great, and I thought I'd come her to forget all about Bryce 'the don' Donovan. Wasn't really helping when his face was on every corner, every fucking building.
Maybe I should just get my pastries from that bakery across the street and get back in my bed. This was suppose to be a good day...
As I was standing in front of all these delicious looking pastries I couldn't decide what to get. 'It's hard isn't it?' The question knocked me out of my pastry trance and I turned around.
I looked at a guy who politely smiled at me. 'Yeah, they all look so good.' I replied while I turned back around to stare at them again. 'Can you reccomend me some?' I asked before I was about the buy all of them.
The one with the strawberries on top is supposed to be good.' He pointed to a cupcake with a strawberry in the shape of a heart on top. 'I can't, I'm allergic to strawberries.'
'Really? Me too!' He answered suprised. 'What a coincidence.' I laughed, still looking at all these delicious things in front of me. I already heard my stomach growl.
The guy chuckled and reccomended me the vanilla one, it was his favorite. 'Okay, I'll try that one. Thank you so much for you expertise in picking pastries.' I joked before I ordered the vanilla cupcake with the girl behind the counter.
'Make it two.' The guy gestured. The girl nodded and reached for the paper money he handed her. 'It's on me.' He winked before he grabbed his change and put it in his pocket.
'Are you here everyday, buying people pastries.' I laughed a little uncomfortably. 'This was my first time actually.' I smiled and thanked him again for being so nice. 'I'm guessing you're new in town?'
How did he know? By the buy-me-a-cupcake-i'm-new-in-town sign on my forehead. 'How did you know?' Oh wait, of course. 'Was it the cap?' I asked embarrassed. He started laughing. 'Maybe, are you a Giant-fan?'
'Not really, just a bad hair day I guess.' Stupid stupid bedhead look. 'Oh and my dad's their coach. A few people looked up and stared at me while they all started whispering.
'You shouldn't have said that so loud.' The guy whispered and I looked around confused. 'Come on, I'll get you out of here.' Before I could protest he dragged me out of the bakery and we hid in and alley a few blocks away.
'I don't know if you've noticed, but the people in this town take their baseball very seriously.' I rolled my eyes because the thought of baseball automatically made me think of Don.
'Really, I hadn't noticed.' I replied sarcastically. 'Those people probably would've kidnapped you to get tickets for the upcoming game.' I looked shocked at his comment until he started laughing.
'Okay, that was a joke, but those girls would've begged you for the players phone numbers.' He teased and we both laughed. 'Well, thanks for saving me then Mr....?'
'Westlake, Mitchell. But people call me Mitch. It's nice to meet you Miss....?'
'Robertson, Shannon. But people call me Shay.' We shook hands, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I've known him from somewhere.
And how weird is it he has the same allergy as me? But then again, he is really nice and I could use a friend around here. And besides that, I'm not one-hundered % better yet so I might be hallucinating.
'Did you have some other plans then pastry shopping today?' He asked while we walked through the streets. 'I was planning on finding a library to get some books.'
He probably thinks I'm some nerd but who cares, if were going go be friends he can like me for who I am, if not then screw this new friendship.
'I know where it is, you want me to walk you there?' Of course I want him te walk me there, it would be way easier then looking for it myself. 'That would be great, thank you.'
'Let's go then.'
'After you sir.' I giggled as we walked off towards the library.
Arrived there Mitch stayed and showed me around where to find the best books, and he actually has the same taste as me, sort of. Except for the game of thrones ones..
Suprisingly this day actually turned out like I thought it would. Explored town, ate some delicous pastries and now I had some great books to read this weekend.
And, to top it of, I already made one friend.
That evening I was all snuggled up on the couch, next to the fireplace getting ready to read one of my new books when I heard loud banging on my door.
'I know you're home Shay, you can't keep avoiding me.' You have got to be kidding me right? What the hell was he doing all the way over here?!
