"Hi mother." I grinned sheepishly.
"Hello, my son." Chaos smiled.
"So... is everyone okay?" I asked.
"Everyone except..." Chaos paused at a digital moving image on the wall of me and Yondu roughhousing. I started to tear up, "Yondu." She finished, and I hugged her. I recalled every moment. The time I met him as a slave, tipped off the Ravagers so they could rescue him. The time I taught him how to play tag, and the time I said goodbye, because he was helping Ego. I wish I'd never left him.
"I know." She told me, "I know." And she did. The worst part of immortality was watching your loved ones live their lives, and then watching them die one by one. That moment I sobbed in my mother's arms over the loss of a friend, thousands of friends from before, and a future of an eternity or more friends to lose. Yet, somehow I knew I'd never stop making them. I knew there was a new group of friends to spend time with; the Guardians Of The Galaxy were my new team, and I would ensure their continuous legacy. I saw Chaos smile sadly at me as I stood up.
"You've made your decision?" Chaos asked.
"I'm sorry mother." I told her, "But I'm a guardian of the galaxy, and I need to stick with my team."
She nodded, and I teleported away. I reappeared to see Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Kraglin, Drax, and Peter preparing Yondu's body for a funeral. Peter shrieked.
"GHOST!" Peter shouted.
I raised my eyebrow in amusement, "Trust me, I am quite alive. It takes more than an explosion to make me fade." There was a long silence, before they relaxed and Rocket spoke up.
"Fade?" Rocket echoed.
"A primordial version of death." I stated, and a stray tear traced my face as my eyes flickered to Yondu, "Let's prepare for Yondu's funeral." My eyes lingered on Yondu's body.
"Rocket said you knew each other." Peter stated.
"He's correct." I admitted, "Yon Yon was a friend. I helped out of a few tough situations, until I found out about him sending a young child to Ego. I never knew he chose to keep you, and took my advice." My eyes flickered back to Peter.
"You knew." Peter's eyes widened, "Just like you knew about Knowhere, the Infinity stones, Thanos, Gamora, Nebula, and how you know the nearest planet or star."
"Yes." I said grimly, "I know this universe well."
"How?" Peter asked, "What are you? What is a Primordial? Who is Chaos?"
"I'm Nico Di Angelo, son of Chaos, Primordial of shadows, darkness, and galaxies." I took a deep breath, "Primordials are the most powerful beings in the universe. I am The youngest of the three remaining. The other two being my mother Chaos, Creator of all, and Thanos, the destroyer of all." I looked at their shocked faces, "After Thanos went rogue, me and Chaos made a new set of rules it binds all three of us. They state that I can't attack a less powerful being with my powers unless attacked. I also cannot interfere with a friend being attacked unless they're in mortal peril. I wish I could've gotten Yondu before he was killed. I'm sorry. I failed." Tears fell down my face, "Please forgive me." Peter's face turned to one of surprise.
"Hey." Peter hugged me, "It wasn't your fault." The rest of them hugged me, even Kraglin, and we cried for a friend we'd all lost. With that we had the funeral. Suddenly, as Yondu's ashes flew off into space, there was a Ravager funeral. I grinned despite the tears falling down my face. They didn't leave him after all. I stood with my new friends, watching the Ravager funeral, and I discovered a new feeling to feel outside of Chaos' planet. I felt like I belonged. I could practically see Yondu receiving a hero's welcome within his religion's gods. I smiled sadly, and whispered so no one could hear.
"Goodbye Yon Yon. I'm proud of you." I turned away as the ceremony ended, fresh tears in my eyes, and looked at my team. I'm not leaving them this time. Never again will I leave a friend. Never again.
I am Nico Di Angelo, Son of Chaos Creator of All, and I am a Guardian of the Galaxy.
